Importing Pheromone Shooting Game Galgun Just Got Easier

By Spencer . August 30, 2011 . 10:42pm

Importing Pheromone Shooting Game Galgun Just Got EasierAlchemist announced they are bringing the wacky Xbox 360 game Galgun to PlayStation 3. The game follows a high school boy named Tenzou who is mistakenly hit with an arrow that makes girls fall in love with him. Instead of playing as Tenzou, you play as a guardian angel in training named Patako who tries to fend the girls away by shooting pheromones so Tenzou can find his true love.

Galgun made its debut on Xbox 360 in January. The PlayStation 3 version, slated for a winter release in Japan, has a few extra features. There is a new girl named Ekoro, a new Doki Doki Carnival mode (doki doki is the onomatopoeia for a throbbing heart), enhanced visuals, and PlayStation Move support. Behind the bizarre story, Galgun is an on-rails shooter. PlayStation Move controls will turn Galgun into a proper light gun game.

Galgun has not been announced for release overseas, but since PlayStation 3 is region free this version will be easier to import.

Good things happen to those who wait!

I am so happy right now. The dream is true.

    • N2O1990

i just tried the 360 demo few hours ago(because i heard this news) and it’s not good
and damn that long loading time

      • http://twitter.com/matty_125 matty

The loading time was improved greatly in the final game. The demo took about 25-27 seconds to load while the final takes about maybe 7.
I thought it was fun, though. With Move support I think it’ll even feel more legit, but I suppose light gun games have limited appeal for some, that’s understandable.

      • OneOkami

It didn’t look like anything to shout about to me from watching (I think) Melinda’s live play-test of it.  It gave me a few kicks watching it just from the absurdity of it….and honestly that was enough for me.

My poor J-360 keeps getting more and more pointless. I can’t believe I’m considering buying a Move and importing this dumb game again. Hopefully the low angle camera will still be intact!

    • godmars

Really don’t know what’s worse; that you bought a JP 360, or this game.

Oh who am I kidding: this game. And now you’re thinking about buying it for the PS3 though it at least will be region free?

As Peter Griffin would say: No! No!

      No!

      • Guest

Actually he says “No! No! No! No! No! No! NOoooooo-oh-see-what-you’re-drivin-at”

      • JustaGenericUser

Oh no, someone likes a game you don’t. Cry more.

    • malek86

If you bought a J-360 for anything other than shmups, it’s your fault.

And if you bought it for shmups, it’s not pointless yet.

    • Aoshi00

I’m not double dipping.. though I wish they would do a Kinect patch (that might help w/ some boss fights), but doubt it..  The achievement were pretty hard, I’ve only unlocked a handful of them..  What games did you import a Jpn 360 for anyway?  It still has VNs, shmups, and plays all Jpn games and almost all US games, so that’s something..  hey, we still got Instant Brain right :)?  I’ve decided to get Dunamis15 on 360 as well even though it’s multiplatform.. just to be consistent w/ my 5pb VN collection.. w/ Move now, I guess it’s only a matter of time the PS3 are getting both Wii (Dead Space Extraction, NMH, House of the Dead Overkill, etc) and 360 ports (Mamoru / IM@S, GalGun)..

      • nyoron

Well I pretty much just picked one up on a whim a few years ago while in Japan along with Idolmaster Twin, Deathsmiles and Otomedius. Since then I’ve gotten Bayonetta (since it came out earlier than in the US) and Galgun. Oh and Dream Club, but I haven’t even opened that yet :/ I also plan to get Deathsmiles II and Akai Katana used next time I’m over there. So yeah it has served its purpose and I’m not regretting buying it, I just don’t see much in its future.

        • Aoshi00

Just Bayonetta and Dream Club/Zero are worth owning a Jpn 360 man :) unless they decide to port it to the PS3 again later, right now just on PSP..  Akai Katana was great, and DSII was pretty fun as well..  I actually want to upgrade my Jpn 360 (mine is the original Blue Dragon one w/o HDMI), like say the Gears 3 LE Red system, looks killer good, but just too expensive..  I pretty have all the shmups on it except Otomedius which I didn’t find really fun.. but yea, more games seem to be ported to PS3 eventually..

BTW, as much as I like Dream Club, it’s quite hard to get the good endings unless you play w/ a guide.. because the answers choices are hidden and so ambiguous.. (they have circle, triangle, square for like agree, disagree, neutral..), you need to raise your rapport by almost getting every question right to get a good ending after 1 year..

    doki doki :)

Wait so the imported 360 ain’t coming to the U.S yet

    • Xerain

Mope. Selling a Japanese Region Coded 360 in the U.S. Would defeat the purpose of putting region coding on the damn thing to begin with.

      • Guest

        What is the purpose?

        • Xerain

Stopping the import of cheaper Asia releases, allowing a sense of comfort that games developed in japan for the system will be difficult for others to import, among others. Nothing good, I assure you.

  • http://twitter.com/matty_125 matty

Greatest game news week ever. There, I said.

Funny, I just bought a Japanese 360 and this game was next on my list (after DDP Resurrection, which is also being brought outside Japan soon…). I even bought the DLC card, but no worries.

I’ll definitely be ready for this – well, not yet, I need Move first. Bleh…

  • Guest

Will the no pantsu censor update patch be applied here too?

    • N2O1990

(look down the Onechanbara Z on 360 news)
guess it’s not because M$ so hard to say

      • AzureNova

Lol, and love your avatar’s expression XD

FINALLY, Gal gun for PS3 <3

  • Aoshi00

The 360 ver was pretty fun.. wish they would patch it w/ Kinect since they’re doing Move now.. Child of Eden w/ Kinect was perfect for an on rail shooter..

    • Testsubject909

Perfect is a bit of a hyperbole. I’ve heard mixed reactions and even the positive ones still have a small gripe with it.

Plus, honestly. I’d rather rumble packs and glowing rave lights at my hands playing the game in darkness and just being immersed in the physical, visual and auditive experience.

I don’t really count physical experience in the Kinect version since there’s a lack of a physical response from your actions in game. Even if you can argue that you still have a kinetic connection with the game by your body movement, there’s no real feedback and thus no two-way relation.

      • malek86

Don’t believe the voices until you try it yourself. CoE with Kinect is probably the most fun and immersive experience I’ve had with motion gaming in general in the last three years, if not the whole gen. Not perfect, but then, what is?

For comparison, the controller makes it just a trippier version of Rez, except with a small crosshair and with difficulty adjusting to the beat. The Move version will probably require you to press a button to shoot, and that would break the magic (and it will definitely at least use a button instead of the left hand for the Tracer). Not saying that CoE Move won’t be good, but it will probably be halfway between a joypad and Kinect. Of course, considering that a Kinect costs at least $120, it’s still difficult to recommend. But don’t just dismiss the experience if you haven’t tried it.

PS. you can play in the dark with Kinect. It’s not an Eyetoy. Played in the dark, with surround sound, moving with the beat. I can’t say enough good things about the game. If only it weren’t so short. It’s easy to see that it was originally supposed to be a downloadable title. At least the PS3 version will launch at a budget price.

      • Aoshi00

Like malek86 said, Child of Eden is really one of the more intuitive motion experiences, I actually score better than using the controller..  I dunno, so far I like the Kinect better overall like Dance Central, Child of Eden, Sports, Kinectimals, fitness, etc which is totally controller free instead of Move which is just a better Wii remote..  So far the only Move game I really like is Tumble or Dead Space Extraction (I just got it for the trophies and sold the Wii ver), NMH I don’t care for.. and I want to get that monkey undressing girl game lol.. one thing that really bothers me though is the blinding light coming from the glowing ball, it’s extremely bright when you hold it near yourself, even when you see it from afar.. and the camera has a blue light as well, I have it on top of my TV and when I don’t use it I disconnect it because that blue light is too distracting when watching movies..

But yea, you should try it out if you get a chance.. one reason I didn’t really like Move or the Wii remote was always putting on and off the strap, it’s just more cumbersome.. and one time I thought I wasn’t going use the strap, good thing I did because I nearly threw the controller straight out..

The Kinect method was good, but CoE is a short on-rail shooter after all which is one of the negative things that most reviews brought up, that it’s a rental for some.. certainly a unique experience.. if using a Move, it’s just like a regular on rail shooter..

  • Mister_Nep

Yay I’m glad this is getting a PS3 release. That makes it a simple import now.

  • Zonic505

    Hooray, PS3 = import friendly!

Now, if they confirm that this won’t have that “no pantsu patch” like the 360 got, I suspect sales shall rise more.

    • neo_firenze

That’s not all that will rise more!

(GAH! I just couldn’t help it, that was just too perfect of a setup to ignore)

      • Kai2591

        Genius!

      • Mister_Nep

I like the way you think!

  • Darkrise

YES!!!!! I’ve been waiting for this for so long! I’m proud of owning a ps3!

  • JustaGenericUser

This is great. I bet sales of this would be a bit higher thanks to importers.

I hope it doesn’t have the censor patch applied.

    • Kai2591

There was a censor patch?! Blasphemy!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ex-Detsu/100001670613988 Ex Detsu

    Day one import.

  • Testsubject909

And japanese Xbox owners take another shot up the bum bum…

    • http://www.youtube.com/B4ULoveShine Tim_at_where

Alchemist can just offer the PS3 extra stuff as free DLC for the Japanese 360 owners who only bought it for Galgun.

      • kroufonz

that’s something that will never happen

  • AzureNova

    This I must have! >_<

  • Kai2591

    DREAMS DO COME TRUE.

..well…almost. This still needs to be localized.

But hell I’d buy the PS Move for this!

  • kroufonz

time to finally buy move! and play the game as it meant to be properly played.

  • Andrew Austin

    will they uncensor it?

I remember hearing the 360 version got a patch that cut out the panty shots.
