Transforming is one of the main elements in White Knight Chronicles. (Level-5 explains why in this interview!) Leonard can don armor for the giant white knight and when they’re in a pinch key characters can summon monstrous Gigas. Using a card, a human can be a host for a Gigas, but after they draw its power… well… you’ll see.
That’s a scene from White Knight Chronicles: International Edition and in the previous game Gigas would only appear during event battles. In White Knight Chronicles II, regular generals and commanders can spook players with a surprise Gigas transformation.
Might be a good idea to boost your characters by fighting fodder monsters first. Here’s a glimpse of the game’s bestiary, specifically some of the new monsters you’ll meet in White Knight Chronicles II.
Undead monsters are one of the new beast types in White Knight Chronicles II. Most of these undead monsters are resistant to normal attack until they are attacked with Holy Water or Holy Light and are weak to fire attacks. The skeleton is a lower level undead monster. You’ll only be able to give the skeleton damage when it’s crumbled on the floor or with the use of magic attacks. If you use Holy Water when it’s crumbled on the floor, chances are high that it can be cleaned up with one blow.
Enemy skills: Blade Flurry, Lost Soul, Poison Mist, and Slash
Wraith is an undead monster that is always floating in the air. This is a very tricky monster to fight since it’s resistant to most attacks until you use Holy Water or cast Holy Light on it. The wraith will attack you with its powerful scythe as well as summon a Succubus, which is an undead vampire/demon. Make sure you have enough MP to cast Holy Light or have enough Holy Waters or you might get cornered when fighting this powerful beast.
Enemy skills: Accursed Scythe, Invisibility, Invisibility Off, Reaper Scythe, +Slow, Spirit Summon, Vitality Leech, and Wicked Malice
The Efreet is a new mysterious monster that casts very powerful spells. It is a fire elemental, high-level monster that can cast wide range fire attacks that can wipe out your entire party in a second. They can also regenerate lost limbs and summon monsters so you might be in for a tough fight when you encounter these foes.
Enemy skills: +Agni’s Fury, Core Regeneration, +Eruption, Flame Canceller, Flash, +Immolate, Limb, Regeneration, Self-Destruct Chain, Summon (1), Summon (2)
These are the wind elemental variants of the dire spiders. Not only can they trample you with their large legs, but they can also spawn smaller spiders to attack and slow you down. They may also spit out a paralyzing net to slow your party down.
Enemy skills: Attack, Dire Influence, Paralyzing Net, Shockwave, Spawn, Thread Shell, Trample
Now some commanders and generals will transform into Gigas in normal battles as well. You’ll really have to save those action chips and MP in battles, just in case you encounter a surprise Gigas battle when you’re exploring and meeting some Magi commanders.
Enemy skills: Abyssal Gate, Arcane Light, Bloody Torment, Dark Wave, Evolve, Fracturing Smash, Guard Breaker, Invoke Evil Eye, Judgment Bolt, Power Overload, State Change
