Mario Kart 7 Uses 3DS Gyro Sensors For First Person Kart DrivingMario Kart 7 will put players in the drivers seat with a new first-person kart driving mode. Select this mode and you’ll control the kart using the Nintendo 3DS’ gyro sensors.

 

Lakitu is also seen in the game as a playable character, another first for the series. Plus there is a power up that changes characters into liquid metal. Think Super Mario 64 Metal Mario, but in Mario Kart.

 

Mario Kart 7 comes out on December 4 in North America, a few days after its December 1 launch in Japan.

    I can’t even imagine what snaking would look like using first-person gyro sensing. I know the first thing I’ll be trying (in public) once I get the game!

      If I ever do this in public, I’m going to turn the volume off and make
      the “vroom! vroom! vrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrroooom!” sounds myself.

        Thats weak. I will put some speaker and then put the music max and uses my own sounds to make the drift sound….kiiiiittttttt poink(jump sound) and drift again kiiiiiiiiiiiiiittttttttt.

    that looks like it’s worth trying, but it’ll probably be more difficult to use than the other control methods (and nauseating to certain people).

    Well this will be kinda difficult if u ask me. I have quite a difficulties playing Mario Kart with Wii mote which  cause me to end up buying the classic controlller but well this will be worth a try.

    They should make a Mario Kart for Wii U with actual racing brand name parts…Nizmo tires and wheels, Borla exhaust, HKS camshafts, etc

    Steer using your 3DS! Never mind that you can’t see the screen properly and will also lose the 3D effect if you do that.
