Ninja Gaiden Sigma For Vita Will Have Touch Screen Controls

Ryu Hayabusa will drop on to PlayStation Vita with Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Team Ninja are bringing the game to Sony’s next handheld. I spoke to Team Ninja lead Yosuke Hayashi, who wore a giant 8-bit Ryu chain, about the Vita version at Tokyo Game Show. While he didn’t say much about Ninja Gaiden Sigma for Vita, he confirmed this version will utilize Vita specific features like the touch screen.

In an earlier interview with Siliconera, Hayashi said he planned on using Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword style controls for the Wii U version of Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge. Of course, Ninja Gaiden 3 and Ninja Gaiden Sigma are different games, but that gives us some idea about how Hayashi is thinking about using touch screen controls.

hmm why not a new Ninja Gaiden on the portable like Dragon Sword??

i also wonder if they are gonna bring back the decapitation from Ninja Gaiden Black though i don’t think this is the case in here.

so what happened to NG 3DS?

PS Vita will get enhanced port and 3DS will get brand new exclusive 3DS Ninja Gaiden game. It’s almost always like this, though I don’t mind since I own 3DS.

Still very early on in development. Last we asked, it wasn’t out of pre-production.

With PSVita, you can shake Rachel’s boobs

The touchscreen controls were good in Dragon Sword, I wonder how they’ll be in Sigma.

Yeah, indeed. I loved Dragon Sword, but holding 3DS with one hand for too long isn’t easy, since it’s not that light (DSi XL is even heavier, dunno ’bout original DSi).

This is why I wish Vita didn’t jump on board with lame Touch/Waggle controls… now games that control just fine will tack on craptastic controls just because.

Agree 100% I just hope that the touch controls are optional. I hate touch controls they always got in the way on the DS and I hatemotion controls. Give me 6-8 buttons and leave this touch crap for cell phone games.

Oh yeah, I didn’t know I could want a Vita even more *drools*… Since this is supposedly a “hardcore”* portable I’m wondering about the level of difficulty of this game. I wouldn’t want to toss my Vita at the wall in a desperate rage…

*yeah, I think the idea of hardcore/casual games is not well defined now.

I’m still puzzled as to why they picked Sigma. Or rather, I’m hoping that it isn’t just the same old Sigma.
