While only one game came out overseas, Acquire’s Class of Heroes series has been a hit for the publisher in Japan. They school themed Wizardry game originated on PSP before the series crawled on to PlayStation 3 and 3DS. Next week, Acquire will release Class of Heroes Final: Her Majesty the Freshman! and surprisingly it’s really the "final" game in the series.
"This episode in the Class of Heroes canon does indeed mark an end to the series," Luke Rideout, Senior Producer, explained to Siliconera. "Like a four-year school, Class of Heroes Final: Her Majesty the Freshman! marks a graduation from the 3D first-person dungeon crawling RPG series that users have come to know and love."
Acquire is still working with the Wizardry license, so we’ll still get new first person dungeon crawlers from them. Those games probably won’t have nuns and pop idol classes, though! I asked Rideout if this is truly the end of Totomono, which is what the series is called in Japan.
"I can’t say for sure that the game will be the last you hear of the Class of Heroes universe, but it is the end of ‘Totomono’ as we know it."
Class of Heroes Final: Her Majesty the Princess! comes out on October 13.
