This Week In Imports: Ready For Final Fantasy Type 0? After a two week delay, Japan is getting Final Fantasy Type-0. The hotly anticipated PSP game has a darker tone than previous Final Fantasy titles and should be lengthy since its one of the few titles to ship on two UMDs. Square Enix changed Final Fantasy Type-0′s release date at the eleventh hour so we’re curious to see if this will affect sales of other games like the Ragnarok Online strategy RPG spinoff and the PS3 debut of The Idolm@ster.

    I don’t care if they change the release date, because as long as this game will be localized, then I can wait. Just please localize this.

    Wonder if Muv Luv Alternate is a good VN, I’ve seen the trailer and don’t like the art too much.. I’m most looking forward to Instant Brain right now after trying the demo… 

    No FF Type-0 for me, just Terror of the Stratus :)..

        You mean Type-0?  Not too crazy about one analog stick and it might get ported to Vita or PS3 soon, so I don’t want to repeat the mistake of Peacewalker.   And got tons of game on backlog alrdy and 2 ver of XIII-2 to play..

          Now that you mention it, I should reconsider getting Type-0, too. It’ll also give me some breathing room as my monies were running low ^_^;

            I really wasn’t too crazy about action games on the PSP w/ one analog stick that I can’t freely control the camera and I hate the claw *.*..  I thought about getting it before, but it seems like this would get ported or get an HD port very soon.. I regret buying PW and couldn’t really play them and now I look forward to playing it from the collection on a big TV w/ 2 analog sticks, the way MGS was meant to be played :)

            Just beat El Shaddai and Gears 3 and now playing Arkham City.. and importing Instant Brain and Stratus.. I haven’t even really played Senran Kagura and Dunamis 15 yet… Oh and Uncharted 3 too, so tons of games *.*.. and of course 13-2..

            Yeah, now that you mention it, I get the feeling it may get ported too. I think I’ll hold off on getting Type-0 as there’s a lot of games on my list and Mario Kart 7 will keep me busy for a while anyway ^o^

            I’ve been playing Senran Kagura, but unlocking costumes is such a pain ~ (￣д￣;)

            Yea, Mario Kart 7 and Mario Land 3D.. and MGS Collection (I’ve only played very little PW on the PSP)..

            A pain to unlock costumes huh? Do we need to earn money to buy the costumes after they are unlocked *.*? I hate that.. like Miku.. you have to play the game like a million times..

            Yeah, it’s a real pain. You unlock costumes by acquiring titles[achievements], and some of them are kind of ridiculous. You have to essentially beat the game like 6 separate times to unlock most of the costumes and apparently palette swaps were included in the 180 costumes -___-

            I dunno, just a feeling… how long did it take for PW to be ported to Collection now after release?  I didn’t like the control for Peace Walker but I imported it and bought the US ver because I thought that’s the only way I could play (even bought the stupid digital ver to play on PSP Go thinking a 2nd stick could be used w/ blue tooth dual shock 3) and now it’s ported to console w/ 2 analog sticks, so this is like my 4th time buying Peacewalker.. I don’t want to spend $90 getting the PSP ver and then find out it’s ported in a year.. I really don’t mind waiting for a year or two if they’re really porting this, w/ so many games, I’m not in a hurry to play this as I don’t find this control to be optimal..

            The two God of War PSP games also got ported to PS3 fairly quickly right? Seems like it’s the trend now.. thank god I didn’t get the GoW games on the PSP or I would be double dipping again..

            the thing is, those titles had reasons other than “people would like to play them” for being on the PS3. the God of War collection is a way to keep GoW alive on the consoles without having to release a new main title while at the same time allowing people to play the back story of the main character. Peace Walker is part of a collection bundle with other HD re-releases as well as, again, allowing people more insight into the story of Big Boss (i still think they should have ported Portable Ops as well, along with PW and MGS3 as part of a ‘Big Boss Collection’). i think Monster Hunter Portable 3rd is the only game in the PSP remaster series as of right now (the GoW collection is something different). 

            personally, i don’t see a port anytime soon. i could see it having dual analog support right off the bat for use on the Vita, but that is about it for the time being. i don’t really care either way. i never had a problem with the controls on the PSP including with Peace Walker.

            If not an full HD PS3 port, I could see a Vita port happening fairly soon w/ added dual analog support.. if that’s the case, I would wait as well since I will be getting a Vita. And by soon I don’t mean 3-6 months, maybe in a year or 2, I’m really not in a hurry to play Type-0, so this time I would like to avoid double or triple dipping.. S-E said they might port KH series including Birth by Sleep too right? It’s good that some people had no problem playing PW on the PSP, neither the face btns nor the d-pad worked for me, I don’t play Monster Hunter so I don’t know how to use the infamous claw.. It’s just hard to play a shooter w/ one analog stick, and like I said I hate not being able to control the camera freely.. as I don’t remember sucking in MGS 1-4.. also being on PS3 means I could tackle some missions and fight against the tank bosses w/ friends..

      MuvLuv Alternate is pretty cool, but for getting everything, one needs to play all games in the series~

      Same here, I’m really looking forward to Terror of the Stratus, I just hope it won’t be another Last Promise: awesome visual design, nice idea, but poor game overall..

      Oh and maybe Idolmaster2 for the PS3, I liked the demo, but so much DLC…

        I see.. maybe I won’t get MuvLuv then if it has such a long history.. I really don’t like the art that much anyway even though the mech is pretty cool, for me to get into a VN I really have to like the art style, Instant Brain’s art looks amazing, very detailed! seems like Cave nailed their first VN :) And it should have mysterious cases and such..

        I’m quite confident it won’t be as bad as Last Promise.. just because it’s a side scroller and a fighter against the bosses.. and it actually has voice acting like an anime unlike Last Promise which hardly had any voice acting *.*..  hey, at least from that I made the right choice to skip BRS lol, so much for imagepoch’s JRPG revolution..

          Touche, side scroller + Mecha Boss battles, if that’s not gonna be awesome I am going to lose hope in humanity..Lol don’t get me started with the voice acting in LP..I bought the game for Aya Endou and then there’s so less voice acting…pretty poor. I’m kinda disappointed in Imagepoch, I hope they someday start to make awesome games, but today is not the day..

    Thinking about getting Type-0, it looks pretty cool and Mameshiba 3DS looks so cute along with Kawaii Koinu 3D (◕ω◕)

    Not going to buy it. I played the demo. I liked it quite a bit. But there’s just no point in continuing if I don’t understand it. Half the enjoyment from an RPG comes from the plot, and if you don’t have that your perception of the game will be skewed for better or worse.

    There’s plenty of stuff releasing in November. Zelda. Mario. Skyrim. Fate/Extra. Ace Combat. I don’t need this right now. I’ll buy it when it’s properly localized (and I’m sure it will be).

    Much as I want Type-0, I’m just going to hold out for localization news. Not understanding an RPG kinda defeats the purpose of playing it.

    There’s lots of stuff to keep me busy in the meanwhile anyway.

      And it’s a core Final Fantasy title, so it’s practically guaranteed to get localized!

      (Depending on what you consider to be apart of the core series, anyways.)

        Yea, with a series this large, I’m not even sure what “core” is defined as anymore.

        I would consider all of the Fabula Nova Crystalis titles core, but that’s up to Square. Let’s hope they consider it core too, because this game NEEDS to come west. Or, rather, we need it to.

    And yet, what I notice is that the Desco and Fuka append disk will be out this week, too. I hope those are interesting!

    I’m getting Pokemon Rumble Blast this week, myself. Sure, it’s gonna be more simple, but I’ve been interested in this sort of game since the demo for Pokemon Rumble on the Wii– the fact that it will have all of the Pokemon, and be for my starving 3DS, is all that I needed to convince me to buy it.

    Domestically this week and next week and the week after and the one after that shall be crazy, a quintuple onslaught of the games that shall all be top selling games this year back to back to back to back to back, wow. BF3 first out the gate for EA.

    If I knew Japanese I’d love to import FF Type-0. Sadly, I do not; I play games for their story first and foremost.

    Just localize it already!! You want my money right??

    Now if only they’d just throw Chrono Cross into the Drop too…

    Oh, Terror of the Stratus is going to be totally overshadowed. Such a shame since it looks like a smashing game.

    It’s also a shame that the PSP gets treated like trash in the West. I get the feeling Terror of the Stratus won’t be making it out of Japan because of it in any way, shape, or form (i.e. Vita/PS3 port/remake).

      Yeah, as sad as it is I really can’t see Konami localizing a niche PSP game (or any PSP game for that matter, after MGS PW’s sales) in 2012…

      It’s really a shame, since Stratus looks wonderful (after Infinite Space I would day one everything from NudeMaker regardless) and its fate will probably be shared by Suikoden Centennial Tapestry :(

    I’m really hoping that the reason Squre Enix is being so quiet about this game’s release in North America is because they are planning on porting it to the PSV for this region. It would be too bad otherwise if they decided to skip on this title just because of the problems the PSP is having in the west.

    After the sales of The Third Birthday, I really do not see Square Enix bringing Type-0 over here in its current form. Vita is a possibility and PS3 HD remaster seems even more likely. PSP, though, I don’t see them feeling it would be worth it.

        Not in the West, if I recall correctly. In Japan, it did great. Over here, I remember reading a lot of articles about how disappointed Square Enix were about its sales.

          Either way, it’s not really a valid comparison, since the game was mediocre and part of a franchise that no one’s cared about since the 90s.  If they’re looking to gauge potential sales, they need to look at Dissidia 012 more than anything else.  Even then, that game was just a glorified expansion pack, so it might under-represent the potential number of customers.

    finally pretty much all the main square enix projects that have announced back then are already done.

    FF Type-0, FFXIII and FFFXIII-2, The 3rd Birthday, Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep, Dissidia.now finally they can focus this game now :P

    the Europe branch will handle Hitman 5,New Tomb Raider, Thief IV, and hopefully a New Legacy of Kain and Fear Effect.

    as for the japanese branch, only FFVersus XIII and Dragon Quest X along with FFXIV are their main focus.

    the rest of the team however will focus on making new ideas from existing franchises(Theatre Rhythm Final Fantasy) and HD versions(FFX; hopefully FFX-2 and FFXII as well. International Edition with Dual Audio and subs please) and remakes of their old games(FFV and FFVI on handhelds with ala FFIV Complete Edition style)

    oh and Kingdom Hearts III and The World Ends with You 2 :P

    also release some of your older games on PSN like Ehrgeiz and Einhänder and Chrono Cross please!!!!!

    I ordered the LE soundtrack, so that’ll be awesome.  I really want to import this game, but it seems like it’s not going to be very import friendly since it’s so complex.  I just hope they announce something soon.
