Under Defeat HD Means One More Shooter For PS3 [Update: Xbox 360 Too]

Earlier this year, G.rev worked with Cyberfront to port Mamoru-kun Has Been Cursed! to PlayStation 3. Now, the shooter developer is bringing one of their arcade game to PlayStation 3. Famitsu has the scoop on Under Defeat HD, a PS3 port of the vertical scrolling helicopter game.

We’re still waiting on full details, but the release date – January 19 slipped out. Under Defeat (SD) was also released for the Dreamcast back in 2006.

Update: G.rev will release Under Defeat HD for Xbox 360 too.

Nice!  Under Defeat is my favorite Dreamcast game.  Guess G-Rev sounding more serious about getting PS3 dev kits than some of the other shooter devs last year held true.

Please support tate and be as perfect as the DC port is all I ask, and my money is theirs.

Oh, finally! Another shmup! I sure hope it will get localized. America needs more shmups!

      Hopefully it’ll be along the lines of there last downloadable title Strania, and get a near simultaneous global release o3o;

      • malek86

Aren’t XBLA games always released worldwide simultaneously (barring some legal troubles like with Trenched)?

        • http://www.genkaibreak.com Code

I think that’s the intent, although it still seems to vary off and on.

Ooh, Under Defeat is great. Can’t wait to see if/how they upgrade it!

Oh man count me in xwx~! rar, I love Under Defeat and really glad to see G.Rev move onto a new project even if it is a port o3o; Although it’s not a big deal which system it’s for to me. But it is nice to send it PS3′s way, the system could really use some more shmup love owo’

Also coming to Xbox 360 but siliconera is just PS3, so nevermind.

    • http://myfigurecollection.net/collection/DrakosAmatras DrakosAmatras

What’s that supposed to imply? They cover 360 in occasions too; it’s just that Japanese games are not common on the console.

      • krokounleashed

:lol:for example EVERY single cave-shmup is on 360 only. Also this game is coming to 360, too. This is misleading, but the average siliconera reader is just ps3.

        • http://myfigurecollection.net/collection/DrakosAmatras DrakosAmatras

Come on now; “every single”? There are a handful of Cave Shoot-’em-ups on 360, yes, but they’re also on arcades. Those aren’t exclusives.

Getting back to the topic, this game doesn’t even have anything to do with Cave. It’s made by G.rev.

          • krokounleashed

Handful? Guwange, Mushihime-Sama Futari, Daifukkatsu, DOJ, Muchi Muchi Pink and Pink Sweets, Akai Katana. Not much left. Yeah this is by G.REV. I was saying this game is coming for Xbox 360, too. But weren’t mentioned, because the average reader here dosn’t care for xbox 360. But it’s misleading that this might be an PS3 exclusive. Which it’s not.

          • http://myfigurecollection.net/collection/DrakosAmatras DrakosAmatras

I personally didn’t get the impression that it’d be an exclusive, but I now understand what you’re saying about why it could be misleading.

For the record though, I can’t find the game listed on either G.rev or Gulti sites. Maybe it’s too early right now.

DonPachi, DoDonPachi, ESP.ra.de, ESPGaluda, Mushihimesama, Ibara, Ibara Kuro, Progear, and Dangun Feveron (though that was announced a while back for a 360 port…no more has been heard about it for a while).  Also, DOJ is not a 360 exclusive, only Black Label.  White Label previously released on PS2.  Your list omits Death Smiles, Death Smiles 2, and Ketsui, but as you can see there are more Cave shooters left over than you may have realized :P

I think the point you were trying to make here is that all current gen Cave ports are 360 exclusive.

          • krokounleashed

You know the funny part is, that cave was an example to show that 360 isn’t unusual for shmups. Never said they are all exclusive, but for the most part the console ports are xbox360 exclusive. But that’s not the point I was making anyway.

        • Ladius

That’s completely wrong, though. This site covered a lot of exclusive X360 games (Cave shmups, visual novels, beat’em ups like Phantom Breaker, games like Idolmaster or Gal Gun and obviously jrpgs like Vesperia, Infinite Undiscovery or Lost Odyssey), and among the commenters here many bought a JX360 just to enjoy Cave’s shoot’em ups (myself included).

I don’t see a single reason to start useless system wars flame over a simple mistake (already corrected, too).

  • malek86

Oh, hey, I remember when this was supposed to come out on XBLA… back in 2007 or so. Took them long enough to finally speak about it again.

I assume they didn’t manage to sort out whatever issues they had with Microsoft?

Hope that they will someday port Senko no Ronde DUO for PS3 also, want to play it, but the 360 is RL

  • NetscapePizza

Day one purchase for releasing a SHMUP on the PS3.

  • thaKingRocka

I’ve never played this game. It looks like Zero Gunner 2 which was a day one purchase for me on Dreamcast. I had this woman from the bank in my small town drive me around town looking for a place that carried it. Good times, man.

  • neo_firenze

Despite already having the DC version on a great TATE’d monitor, I am excite.  I’d assume XBLA/PSN seeing as how G.Rev’s last shooter (Strania) went straight to XBLA.  But if it is retail, I don’t mind one bit – would be worth every penny for this great game.

Hmm… now for Border Down HD ;)

  • PrinceHeir

    that’s cool :D
