Dynasty Warriors Goes Kentucky Derby On PlayStation Vita

By Spencer . October 27, 2011 . 6:01pm

Dynasty Warriors Goes Kentucky Derby On PlayStation VitaTecmo Koei has a horse racing series. Two of them, actually! They merged together into Champion Jockey: G1 Jockey & Gallop Racer this year and it seems Dynasty Warriors Next took some inspiration from their collaboration.

The PlayStation Vita title has a horse riding mini-game. It’s one of the mini-games that utilizes the PlayStation Vita’s unique hardware features in Dynasty Warriors Next. You can also take pictures with the Romance of Three Kingdoms warlords using the system’s camera. Koei announced the feature, dubbed "musou snap" in Japan, but haven’t shown screenshots of it yet.

Dynasty Warriors Next will be available on December 17 in Japan.

I have to admit, I would have never expected ‘Dynasty Warriors’ and ‘Kentucky Derby’ to be within a mile of each other, let alone the same sentence.

      Interestingly enough, there’s a horse-race mini-game in Sengoku Basara
      3. It was only a matter of time until Dynasty Warriors followed suit.

I only hope this means using horses won’t exclusively be reserved for long-distance traveling in battles.

So… it looks like I’ll be buying a Dynasty Warriors game for the first time in a while. Not because this one looks particularly great or anything (not that it looks bad, not at all), but because I kinda miss the series — it was a staple of my PS2 library, so why not start off my Vita library with one?

Next one for me is Saint Seiya Chronicles

Lol. I didn’t even think about it like that, but I guess that’d be my next one too.

I meant one with all the Romance of the Three Kingdoms stuff, though. Otherwise, I pretty much bought a new DW when I bought Soul Resurreccion.

Kentucky Derby is the last thing in my mind when horse racing and weapons are involved, it’s more like Dynasty Warriors + Road Rash to me.
