Jak And Daxter Collection Outed By Korea Ratings Board

By Spencer . October 28, 2011 . 2:33am

Jak And Daxter Collection Outed By Korea Ratings BoardRumors have been swirling that Jak and Daxter Collection is coming to PlayStation 3. We have something a little more concrete, thanks to Korea’s Game Rating Board.

They rated Jak and Daxter Collection and Sony Computer Entertainment Korea is listed as the publisher. While the Korean Rating Board does not specify systems, it’s probably going to be a PlayStation 3 package since those are in vogue now.

Anyone up for playing Naughty Dog’s pre-Uncharted trilogy – Jak and Daxter, Jak 2, and Jak 3 again?

I thought Naughty Dog already came out and confirmed it? Also it’ll only be on PS3 due to NDI being a Sony first party group.

    • Nemesis_Dawn

Not to mention Sony owning Jak and Daxter.

      • Kirbysuperstar2

        Right, there is that too.

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Now only Ratchet and Clank’s previous adventures remain in last gen. May as well jump on the HD bandwagon, Insomniac…

    • Solomon_Kano

It’s the only one AWOL of the PS2′s platformer trio. Insomniac needs to do it already!

I went back and played the first two R&C games a few months ago, they really haven’t aged that well.

        • Solomon_Kano

Well, for the sake of having all of the R&C games on PS3, I’ll take it anyway. I can’t imagine that they’d feel terribly different from the first PS3 one but, then again, I haven’t played them since…07-ish.

Good, good…now give me Ratchet and Clank HD and Kingdom Hearts HD and I’ll be able to lay my PS2 into the closet.

I have a strong feeling that we’ll see a KH collection announced next year. Nomura did say that they were looking into something for the series’ anniversary.

His mention that Square was doing “HD tests” turned into FFX HD for its anniversary, so a KH HD sounds veeeery likely.

      • http://twitter.com/AnthonyFoster5 Anthony Foster

If they did that they’d have to chop out the Tarzan level from KH1 sense square lost the license for it.

        • Solomon_Kano

Really? That’s rather unfortunate. I suppose they could always re-license, but who knows if Square is willing to pay that cost. I can’t imagine that they’d just cut it, so they’d probably pay.

I haven’t play Jak and Daxter series back in the era of PS2. But , if they included trophy and platinum of this game. Its good to go :D

  • Rupee11

I’d love to replay the Jak Trilogy in HD (…Jak X? What? Never heard of it…). I remember feeling to cool when I played Jak II for the first time and the characters swore, then I stole cars and shot people. Okay yeah the game was a 12+ rating, but I really enjoyed the more ‘mature’ direction the series took.

Also, is it worth checking the Lost Frontier on PSP (it’s about £8 most places I look)? Been on the fence about that one for a while.

    • Solomon_Kano

I heard the Lost Frontier was pretty bad. Some camera issues and the story wasn’t very good. That’s what a friend of mine who played it told me, and he was a HUGE fan of the series.

So, whoever took over from Naughty Dog for that one dropped the ball.

      • Rupee11

Ah thanks, maybe it’s best to keep fond memories of the original trilogy and just miss that one out :P

        • sandra10

You could play Daxter if you haven’t already. It’s pretty enjoyable but just a tad on the short side.

        • Solomon_Kano

That may be for the best lol. Or follow what @sandra10:disqus said and play Daxter. It was a good game. Ready at Dawn made it before they did the PSP God of War games.

    • LynxAmali

Really? You were surprised that characters swore? Not say Jak talking?

Sadly, don’t get Lost Frontier. It wasn’t made by NDog so it’s lacks that sense of charm. HOWEVER; it does actually allow you to fly ships (for once.)

      • Rupee11

Jak II was actually my first Jak game :P I got the original a few months later.

Hmmm… can’t say flying ships really tickles my fancy. Maybe if they lower the price to £5…

    • http://twitter.com/AnthonyFoster5 Anthony Foster

Lost Frontier is horrible, don’t go anywhere near it. Daxter for psp on the other hand is a good game, pick that up if you haven’t already.

  • Mister_Nep

I want this so much. I played and loved part 1 and 2, but never played 3(I own it. It’s in my backlog). I was actually holding off on playing my PS2 copy, because I was hoping for this collection to pop up.

  • SolNeko

SWEET, one of my fav game series of all time. would love to play the first one again especially in HD!

And hopefully if they sells well, Naughty Dog can give us a Real Sequel for the series…and on the Ps3 :3

  • PK212

I like it! I second game was my favorite but the series as a whole was also really good :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Stephen-Mc-Devitt/100002626261475 Stephen Mc Devitt

I hope this is true. The Jak & Daxter trilogy on the PS2 are some of my most favourite games ever!

  • Solomon_Kano

    Yes. YES. YEEEEESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!

First the MGS collection, then DMC, and now this? I don’t care how anybody else feels about HD re-releases, but I’m glad I can play these amazing series again.

Hopefully, this means that Naughty Dog may return to the franchise if this does well — after Unkarted: Drake’s Drift, of course ;)

I love all these HD-Remakes!! If I where a gaming company I would do this for all my series that are fan favorites/top sellers at least every other console generation (pending backwards compatibility.)

  • brian yep

Why do people so willingly buy HD collections if games like these are almost always really cheap and easy to find?
I get that a lot of people may have missed them on PS2 or sold them and wanna play them again.
But at around $40, it seems like too much for just some slight graphical upgrades.
Jak 1-3, DMC 1-3, GOW 1 and 2, and Sly 1-3 are all on PS2 for about or exactly $20 each combined.
Although ZOE, MGS, and Team Ico games getting collections is good.
I’m probably bitter about it because Sony keeps milking cash cows with lame enhancements that automatically sell at least 100k-200k or so, but actually new games from small companies like XSeed struggle to get even remotely close to that.

    • Nemesis_Dawn

Because I like having a bunch of games from a system that has dust on it at our place, in one place, on the system that I still play. And I love getting trophies and with a few exceptions, look great on HD tv’s.

My PS2 barely works anymore and is covered in dust. It also saves my fiancee and I a lot of shelf space. We can sell the old copies and have one disc to replace them. It’s great.

  • Joanna

    If I didn’t have the PS2 games and a working PS2, I’d get it. I don’t like buying the same game(s) twice. :P
