Celebrate Puyo Puyos 20th Anniversary By Playing A PSP DemoCompile’s blob stacking puzzler turns twenty this year and Sonic Team created a new Puyo Puyo game for the series. Want to try it out?

Then grab your PSP and log on to Japan’s PlayStation Store where you can download a demo of Puyo Puyo 20th Anniversary. The demo version has four rule sets: Puyo Puyo Sun, Puyo Puyo Fever, Active, and Pair Puyo. Sega created Pair Puyo just for this game, which puts players in 2vs2 battles where you share lives.

The retail game, which comes out on December 15 for PSP, Wii, and Nintendo 3DS, has more than twenty types of rules. Puyo Puyo 20th Anniversary is also available for the Nintendo DS now.

Can we please get this one localized in America? (Although it’s not the end of the world if I can play it on my region free PSP – it’s not like I really need to be able to read the text in Puyo Puyo.)

The odds of getting a Puyo game are slim to nil most times.  Sega just doesn’t see the demand for it.

It’s a shame too, Puyo 7 was an incredible game (I thought) but quite a few people figured that Big mode in Henshin was broken as hell.

I definitely don’t play Puyo for the story, let’s just leave it at that. ;-)

They keep re-releasing Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine on various collections, but for some reason Sega can’t seem to bring a more modern Puyo game (after Fever) over here. It’s a real shame. I think Puyo Puyo is way more fun than Tetris.

But if Fever wasn’t in english what would you have done if you didn’t experience the EPIC and UNFORGETTABLE tale of finding Ms. Accord’s lost flying cane!?!

Exactly, it doesn’t really matter either way outside of menu languages.

    Ok. I need a PSP.
I’m that desperate to get any glimpse of PP20th…
…I wonder why Sega won’t localize them overseas, besides the whole PPF Low Sales fiasco…

    Thanks for the headsup!
Demo is on the JP PSN, 28MB, yus.

I seriously need a downloadable demo. Now that my PS3 is gone, I can’t be bothered to change my PSP account every time.

Sega, just bring this over.  As much as I love Puyo Pop Fever… the PSP version is nowhere near as entertaining as the DS version, and the DS version is terrible for the inability to shut off the mic.
