The Fullmetal Alchemist PSP Game Made Just For Sony To See

By Spencer . November 3, 2011 . 3:33pm

Years before Namco Bandai started releasing Fullmetal Alchemist games for the PSP, an Australian company conjured one for Sony’s handheld. Torus Games borrowed Edward Elric and what appears to be the Church of Leto for a tech demo.

Models were made and stages were created. Torus Games then brought their take on Fullmetal Alchemist to Sony Computer Entertainment as part of a pitch to become a PSP developer.

I’m pretty sure TFU for PSP was developed by Krome Studios?

Oh wait, here’s the story. Looks like this tech demo was developed by one Benjamin Darling while he worked at Torus Games, but he jumped ship to Krome Studios in 2006. So I guess that’s kind of misleading then.

Ah, I missed that. Let me up date this…

more importantly, is it based off the manga?

  • Solomon_Kano

Wow. That looks really good to be on PSP. Not that there aren’t good looking PSP games, but if this predates Namdai putting out FMA games then it’s impressive that a small dev had a tech demo that looked this good back then.

I wonder why Scamco didn’t bother localizing a single one of the Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood games and releasing them in the US. I know they localized some god awful PSP brawler just for Europe…

Yes you are absolutely right.I thought the style looked familiar but couldn’t remember.

It’s really too bad Torus’ heavy support of the N-Gage never worked out for them in the end…

AND? That’s like, you started to tell a story, and then walked away shortly after starting it! That’s so not cool! :)

I find this kind of stuff very interesting. Torus is an interesting developer too – they’ve made some fine handheld games over the year. It’s interesting that they wanted to do this, specifically, for their tech demo.

I wanna know the full story here!
