Artwork From Square Enixs Untitled Medieval Style Action RPG

In attempt to recruit new staff, Square Enix lifted the lid on an upcoming action RPG. That’s artwork for the unnamed title above.

 

Square Enix hasn’t said much about it, but it appears online play will be a key component. One of positions is for a network programmer who will work on network synchronization and player matching. The game will use 3D graphics too since Square Enix is looking for background modelers and a real-time 3D graphics programmer.

 

The planner position may give a hint about the gameplay. Square Enix wants to hire someone who focuses on combat action and another employee to design levels by placing enemies and items.

    That’s actually much more interesting than I was expecting. Sort of gives me a bit of a Castlevania meets Devil May Cry vibe. Maybe with a hint of Van Helsing. I don’t know, it’s neat.

    Hopefully multiplayer isn’t the game’s focus though, if there is multiplayer that is.

    With all the comments about Castlevania, my minds going like, so.. Gothic Motif, I can imagine it with say.. Kingdom Heart’s battle system, learning different magic abilities through demons you’ve slain. And for Multiplayer just do the same as the Arena mode in Birth By Sleep or something like that. That would be pretty damn awesome.

    Yeah, it looks like Castlevania to me too, but this one picture shows it’s far off from that assumption. It looks more like Van helsing in steampunk.The dude’s got a steampunk style to that sword, and anyone with an owl for a pet has to be mysterious, deep, and badass and the same time.

    Wow, I was worried that it was going to look like Dragon’s Dogma (which I liked, but the visual style doesn’t to much for me) or something, but that outfit is pretty badass. Can’t wait to see what this results in. :)

    That’s a cool, intriguing design. It’s like a gothic medieval fantasy Western (I think it’s the owl/poncho combo). I’m going to go ahead and get excited about this now.

      Buy all of the other games that aren’t in Europe. Also, we don’t yet know that this is set in Europe. Atm, we don’t even know that this is set in the real world. Might as well wait for more details before we jump to conclusions.

        I mean that it’s BASED on European culture.
        And even if I buy all the non-European games I’ll just be broke.
        Because it doesn’t mean everyone else will.
        And just because something of the cultures that I want to see doesn’t mean the gameplay or story is good.
        I want SQUARE to do an FF about a world that blends African, Asian, India, and South American culture. Bam. Get it done Square. That would be something new.

          Well, in some form or other, most games take at least SOME inspiration from foreign lands, so why fault them for picking Europe? It’s an iconic locale that’s easy enough to draw inspiration from. For an Asian developer there’s not too many choices picking something further west. Asian as a whole and Japanese aren’t too far off depending on what part of Asia you pick, so it makes sense for them to take inspiration from further west.

          I do agree that it’d be nice see more games that draw inspiration from elsewhere though. Not enough games draw inspiration from India and China for my liking. They have some wonderful architecture.

    Beautiful , I like the character design and looks like pretty badass. I hope the it’s fast paced gameplay and awesome moves and skill , also hope that bird involves in combat. Co-op play is alright but I do hope we could manage the game alone maybe not alone if that bird counts, lol
