Namco Bandai has been announcing characters for Tales of the Heroes: Twin Brave in pairs. In story mode, you’ll go through Twin Brave with a game specific team say Team Hearts or Team Innocence, but in free mode you can partner Shing up with Ruca or whoever your favorite Tales series character is.

Tales of the Heroes: Twin Brave uses a combat system Namco Bandai calls "Aggressive Chain Capacity (ACC)" system. You can call in a partner to rush an enemy by using some energy from the partner gauge. The meter recovers over time and the recovery rate depends on the bond between the two characters. If the partner gauge is full you can trigger Twin Brave mode, which makes both characters synchronize attacks for a limited amount of time.

Now let’s get to the character introductions. Shing and Kohak come from Tales of Hearts.

I expected this. It’s good you can team up different characters from different Tales games to find a combination you’ve been “fanboying” over. At least, that’s how I feel anyway.

    Nice~ I’m going with Guy/Flynn for extra confusion. :3

Why not Judas+Lion if/when they announce Judas is in the game, then? ;)

      • http://myfigurecollection.net/collection/DrakosAmatras DrakosAmatras

Oh, right. That’d be even more hilarious. It just didn’t cross my mind immediately because, while I know the basic synopses, I never got around to playing ToD/2.

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ivanir-Ignacchitti/100002728780712 Ivanir Ignacchitti

I actually only played a little of Destiny, but it was an important part of my experience with the series, so I couldn’t ever forget that. ;)
Hope you get to play them someday then, I guess. o/

So do I; ideally through either an English fan-translation or my Japanese skills (which I don’t have quite enough yet). I prefer not to play through an RPG without reading/understanding the text and conversations.

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ivanir-Ignacchitti/100002728780712 Ivanir Ignacchitti

^^ I’ve been looking forward to PP’s fan-translation of the PS2 versions of the games (Destiny: Director’s Cut and Destiny 2). They said they would probably be resuming their work on it soon. And since I have no japanese knowledge whatsoever, I’ll have to wait for it. xD

But I hope you can understand the game with your Japanese skills soon then (because those projects will probably take a really long time to be done, I think). ;)

  • JustThisOne

Faaaaaaaaaaantastic. I not fond of Luke at all, and Guy’s pretty much my go-to-guy. So I’m glad I’ll be able to pair him up with other people. I wonder if they’ll affect the skits, too?

Also, TIPO GLOVES. WHAT. They would make genius mittens in real life. Hand puppet mittens, y’know?

    • Phlo

Mixing and matching is for free mode only, it says, and who knows if free mode will even have skits?

  • Göran Isacson

Looking this series Wiki up, it is truly insane how many games there are in this series that never ended up localized… and while I’m not saying any method is better or worse, it’s kind of funny seeing the contrast between how Namco manages to pump out so many of these (hell, it looks like it’s been one for nearly every year of the 00′s) while SE takes their sweet time with each FF-installment. Price you pay for sticking to a look versus constantly reinventing it, I guess.

    • Ladius

I wouldn’t say the rapid pace of Tales releases has hurt their quality, though.

Outsourced entries like Tempest and Innocence have their flaws, but games developed directly by Namco Tales Studio are all great, even considering they are often much different in narrative and gameplay (see the Team Destiny 2D games compared to Team Symphonia 3D ones, or the differences between Hearts, Graces and Xillia).

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_472QBVARRYERRGHATSUGCVCTTA Ian

sob and I still waiting for ToG:F news and this article torture me… D:

    • Ladius

Considering Namco hasn’t released any ToGF screenshot or trailer since the announcement back in February (aside from some off screen gameplay video) and the only “news” we had about the game was an unofficial comment from its localization team, 8-4, I fear the marketing on that game will be next to nothing.

It’s really sad to see the great job done by XSeed with Corpse Party’s marketing (especially considering that game is as niche as you can get) while Namco is completely unable to market Tales games in even the most trivial and unexpensive ways. Graces F is a great game, and it deserved a marketing campaign at least on par with games like Neptunia Mk2 (which was announced much later and has already a localized trailer, screenshots and so on).

      • SerendipityX

Wow, man this comment just went STAB right through my heart and sadly it’s so true. Man what the shafu is Namco doing? TOGF is like a ghost to me now, I know its coming but theres nothing to show for it. lol Most of the people I know that were interested, I have to keep reminding them this it is being localized and its not just some dream-like rumor.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/GuiltyRaioh ShinkaRaioh

All I wanted to know, now nothing is standing in the way of the dazzling dream team of the sexiest hair in Tales: Milla/Yuri!

    • http://thrust-the-sky.deviantart.com/ WildArms

Espada x Lloyd,  TWIN SWORDS POWAAAAR, and i think alvin x yuri would be more badass, you will have to wait until jude’s route to see an epic scene with alvin, jude and reiah X.x,  anyway i wanted colleteeeeeeeeeeee TT____TT my kawaii colleteeeee

      • http://twitter.com/#!/GuiltyRaioh ShinkaRaioh

It depends, from what I gathered in my playthrough I can say that Milla is at least as badass as Alvin and Yuri are, also Milla has definitely the better hairstyle, yo~

        • http://thrust-the-sky.deviantart.com/ WildArms

GUY AND FLYNN IN THE SAME PARTY!? WHICH IS WHICH!?

    • http://www.oneltwops.org Santashi

Haha. The other day I was wondering why the latest Tales of figures didn’t include Guy, then I noticed Flynn in there.

  • Hinataharem

    Rubia, eh?

I didn’t know Strawberry Shortcake characters were in Tales.

  • http://twitter.com/NestorGunner Nestor Guanipa

I’m going with Reid solo owning everybody in the game with aurora arts.

  • AzureNova

    So………….. localization?

    • Ladius

Considering Tales of the Abyss’s European release has apparently been a disaster (extremely limited distribution, no marketing, doubts about the release date almost till the release itself, some retailers never stocking it, etc) and the situation surrounding Tales of Graces F, which could be out in February (again, no marketing whatosever, no screenshots, no trailers, a release date as close as possible to FF13-2 and so on), I don’t know if we will see anymore Tales games localized after them :

Then again, if a miracle happens and TotA and ToGF do wonderfully despite Namco’s handling of their releases, I think Xillia and Innocence R would be far more likely candidate than a brawler spin off on PSP.

      • AzureNova

Noooooo, don’t do that lol. There’s no need for rationalization here. Just hope and believe and it shall come lol ^_^

        • Ladius

That tactic didn’t work very well with some eight Tales games in the last years, though :P

          • AzureNova

            Damn lol

    • Hinataharem

      Hahahahahahahahahahahahahhahaha

      • AzureNova

        XD

    • http://twitter.com/Megawarrior345 Elle

      I’d rather get Innocence R.

  • darkfox1

O cool a new system haven’t seen any really NEW ones in the tales series for a while.
