Fear Effect Inferno Concept Art Surfaces

By Spencer . December 2, 2011 . 1:58pm

After creating two Fear Effect games for PsOne, Kronos Entertainment planned to bring the series to PlayStation 2. Fear Effect Inferno was in development until 2003 when Eidos canceled the title. Siliconera found a few pieces of concept art from a former Kronos Entertainment artist who eventually wound up working on Spyborgs.

Hana was set to return along with Rain who was introduced in Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix, a prequel to Fear Effect. Deke and Glas were confirmed for the game too and it looks like someone has both of their arms…

Kronos Entertainment was also working on a fighting game called Okuden that pre-dates the oirignal Fear Effect, but came after Cardinal Syn. Like Fear Effect Inferno, Okuden was canned.

It seems like Square Enix plans on reintroducing Fear Effect, at least on PlayStation Network. Both PsOne games have been rated by PEGI as PlayStation 3 title suggesting plans for a digital re-release.

The woman with the red hair scares me while the woman with the black hair looks kind of like a man. -_- I love the other two though.

This. . .this makes me horribly sad. Knowing what could have been.

I prefer the old Hana, though.
And, as mentioned, how did he get his arm back?

Good question… and I wish I knew, but I *assume* that the chronology for FE: Inferno followed the hard ending from FE where you don’t have to choose.

It’s been a while since I played, but wasn’t the ending a reset button resolution?

the first black coat guy reminded me of Deus Ex :P

    The sketches are awesome looking.

The picture of Rain has a nice Effect on my eyes. Haha, see what I did there. ^_^

I wish I truly read that as “It seems like Square Enix plans on reintroducing Fear Effect, at least on Playstation Network. Both PsOne Games have been rated by ESRB as PlayStation 3 title suggesting plans for a digital re-release.”

    =(

Looks like some shoddy fan art.

Never finished the second Fear Effect (I think some puzzle involving Chinese characters on the last disc stumped me completely).  But the first one was a great experience for its time.  With what happened to certain main characters, they pretty much told you that anything could happen, no holds barred.

Speaking of which, a game like Fear Effect would’ve lost its charm on the PS2, since the big draw of the series on the PSX was that it would constantly stream animated backgrounds while you would play.  That doesn’t sound too impressive now, but hey. XD

By the way, rumor has it that Inferno got canned because it was likely to get an AO. There’s scenes from it on youtube if you look. The game was going to be BRUTAL. Also, FE1 is one of my favorite games ever. Incredible in every sense of the word.

From what I can tell, this game has three key concepts to it’s score. Boobs, lesbians, and lesbian boobs.

I may be oversimplifying it, but JEESH. Some of this seems more like cheezy fanart than actual concept art…

I like the series and would, unsurprisingly, welcome a sequel.
