New Alan Wake Is Alan Wake’s American Nightmare

By Spencer . December 8, 2011 . 12:48am

Microsoft has been teasing a standalone Alan Wake game for Xbox Live Arcade. The title will be revealed at the VGAs this weekend, but Germany’s video game rating board beat Spike to the punch. Unless Microsoft has multiple Alan Wake games in development, the the name of the next Alan Wake game is Alan Wake’s American Nightmare.

A single screenshot of the game shows Alan Wake, holding a flashlight in one hand and a power drill in the other, standing in front of the dimly lit Desert Shore motel, 15 miles (?) away from Night Springs

Looking forward to playing this.  Alan Wake is a rare case in which I was compelled to purchase the DLC.  I’m hoping this installment concludes the story though, because though I’ve enjoyed the adventure, I do also feel the DLC was kinda dragging it on.

I’m a little surprised the sequel would be an XBLA game instead of full retail.. I got both DLCs but had a feeling they weren’t adding much to the ending so I have yet to play them, are the DLCs hard?  This doesn’t have anything to do w/ McGee right lol..  I hope it’s still the same voice actors too.. and we need Barry..

The DLCs actually bridge Alan Wake with the sequel so you’re gonna want to eventually play them for completeness.  They have some sections that were challenging for me to get through, but overall they are not prohibitively difficult.  Barry appears in both episodes IIRC which made them more interesting.

I’m not sure who the McGee you’re referring to is, though.

Thanks.I definitely need to get to them. I loved Alan wake, somehow I was just too lazy to play the DLCs several months later, and I felt guilty since many friends who got the game much later have beat everything. Good to know Barry was in both, the guy was funny. Oh I was just joking since the title reminds me of American McGee s Alice, but was nice enough to not do it to Madness Returns. I still need to go back and get more achievement, like using the shotgun and other weapons.

I still need to finish all the DLC. I’m a completion so I try and get all of the achievements. I have to say though the game is pretty damn good. It’s one of my favorite game of 2011

There’s quite a few jokes that can take a stab at the US to be made here…
