Tri-Ace Working With Ex-Koei President’s Company RealStyle

By Spencer . December 8, 2011 . 12:15am

Tri Ace Working With Ex Koei Presidents Company RealStyleWhat’s behind the curtain? We’re dying to find out. All we know right now through a teaser site is Beyond the Labyrinth developer tri-Ace is working with RealStyle on a new game.

RealStyle is a new company formed in January 2011 by former Koei President Kiyoshi Komatsu. He left the Dynasty Warriors developer back in 2007, way before the Tecmo Koei merger.

While RealStyle has not said anything about their project, job listings give a hint. The entertainment company (they make e-books and CG too) is hiring iPhone/Android programmers and social game planners. Perhaps, this is for a tri-Ace social game?

    And here Im still longing for Valkyrie Profile 3 to be announced ;__________;

    • icecoffemix

      VP is Squareenix IP…

      • Testsubject909

False. VP was created by Tri-Ace. Only the more recent VP has been Published by Squeenix. The game was built by Tri-Ace.

        Go fact check yourself.

        • kroufonz

          false!

it is true that VP is developed by Tri Ace but it is Enix IP and now it is SquareEnix IP (same case with star ocean) ,PS1 VP published and owned by Enix PS2 and DS published and owned by SquareEnix. also the PSP port developed by TOSE Published and owned by SquareEnix.

        • icecoffemix

The first VP was published by *drumroll* Enix… which is now : guess what?

Also, developer does not own the IP, Xenogears would be the most famous example of this.

That’s fine.  Hasn’t been a good Tri Ace game in awhile.  Star Ocean 4 wasn’t terrible, but wasn’t really good either.  Resonance of Fate though.  Worse than FF13.  Don’t think I’ve played a good game from them since the Star Ocean 2 port and remake of the original, and they might not have even had anything to do with those.

The one thing I liked about RoF was changing the outfits and appearance of the characters. I spent all my money buying clothes and used all my plates trying to find some on the map.

      • Testsubject909

And making ridiculous modifications to your gun such as a barrel that’s U shaped yet somehow still shoots straight forward when you use it in combat with four sniper scopes on it and four grips despite it being a handgun.

    • JustThisOne

Mmm, I don’t think RoF was trying to be a real RPG though. I felt like I was playing a slice of life anime in a steampunk setting. It probably doesn’t make for a good gaming experience, but it felt relaxing to play it. And it made you feel cool when you spewed bullet hell.

RoF wasn’t that great, but it’s refreshing plot execution.

I loved EOE. I wasn’t very much of a fan of AAA until EOE.

Considering tri-Ace’s track record of interesting gameplay, I’m curious to see their take on social gaming.

  • kroufonz

meh, this sounds like some kind of social game:(

I’ll definitely interested if this turn out to be console JRPG

what happened with their relation with squareenix? their last 3 games are published by sega or konami. i just hope squareenix haven’t cut relationship with tri ace yet, i still want VP 3!

Tri Ace must be still developing something for HD console, they wouldn’t bother to show tech demo of their engine earlier this year if they aren’t developing something.

    • fayt255

Hope something good comes out of that tech demo.

I always wondered how big of a studio is Tri-Ace?Could it be possible that they have multiple teams working at different projects at the same time?
Otherwise it would be such a waste of talent if the whole studio is working on casual/mobile games only.

    • fayt255

they at least have 2 teams I think since Radiata stories and IU was mentioned to have been made by a second team other than the one that did VP and SO.

I’d be interested, but I smell a social/mobile title of sorts, so I really won’t get my hopes up for nothing :/

Hopefully I’ll be wrong though :P

What would be really awesome would be some kind of tie-in to Resonance of Fate.
That was my favorite game from two years ago and would love to see another game take place in that world.Even if it is some kind of social/mobile game, it would be rad. Maybe a game in which Vashyron, Zephyr, and Leanne go out looking for the hippest new outfits. Aw, yeah!
    :P
