By Spencer . December 8, 2011 . 3:59pm

While SNK Patches The King Of Fighters XIII You Can Play A DemoNorth American publisher Atlus confirmed SNK is working on a patch that will improve network functionality for The King of Fighters XIII. Great news for those who have the game and if you aren’t playing KOFXIII you can try it.

A demo of the game is available on Xbox Live for gold members now. You can fight with two teams Team K’ (Kula, Maxima, and K’) and Team Fatal Fury (Terry, Andy, and Joe) in London or on an airship. The King of Fighters XIII demo will come to PlayStation Network on December 13 and all Xbox Live members next week.

Great game, just the online is horrible!! Hopefully they can completely fix the horrible lag and randomly lose connections :(

Online is varies, i had many matches, only a few were bad, the rest were great :l then again i mostly tried to play some people who had level 3 connection (though i had some Level 2s that were just as good) but yeah the patch will make it even better

  • JustThisOne

    Patch? AWESOME! Good job.

  • Maxwell3000

I have only jumped into 3 and 4 bar rooms and luckily its been pretty good. I think an improvement on the number of overall good connections can be helped though.

First off, I’m glad to see that SNK is actually working on the patch. Goes to show that when a publisher and developer actually care, they can address problems/issues and improve the quality of what they release! Whoo!

Second, do we have any word on inclusion of a spectator mode in said patch? That one still hit me particularly hard, since lack of spectating alone kind of killed online MvC3 between my friends and I. :C (Sitting around between matches watching cards go at it wasn’t really that entertaining. . . )

    And last. . . Hells yeah Team K’! :D

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Wayne-LaBranch/100002132711844 Wayne LaBranch

You can practice while waiting so…yeah, sure you can’t see matches but at least you’re not watching/doing nothing as you wait.  They’re not added in a spectator mode in the patch (probably later or maybe not, we’ll have to see but its not really that big of deal for this game, at least to me)

      • Nemesis_Dawn

It’s a good game, but I don’t see why people have to pretend it’s perfect when it clearly isn’t. Spectator mode should be a standard feature in any online versus fighting game, these days. I’m enjoying the game, but none of my buds will play with me if it doesn’t have a spectator mode.

yay you can use team k :)

A patch coming? Already? Well that was fast, SNK lol. See? Aren’t they reliable? I just love them! X3

  • ResidentMetroid

Netcode patch? No spectator mode? Why not just ship out another copy with all that? You can call it KoFXIII-2 :P

    • http://twitter.com/Vanpan110494 Sentoro Katarashi

      Yeeeaaah! Please don’t do that.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Wayne-LaBranch/100002132711844 Wayne LaBranch

They’re not going do that and really who cares if it doesn’t have spectator mode :l

      • Solomon_Kano

Some do. It’s a great feature in a fighter. I’m fine without it, but asking who cares?

      • fermented

While many will play and enjoy the game without a spectator mode, where the mode truly benefits the game is through online streaming.

24/7 streams of spectator lobbies allow players to play with each other at any time of the day and discuss the game in the stream chat, as well as allow those who have yet to buy the game to be able to tune in and decide if it’s a game that they would enjoy playing or just watching.

Also, online tournaments like the Godsgarden SSF4 ft10 event in Japan would not have been possible without a spectator mode.

        • mikanko

For sure.  Even Arcana Heart 3 had a 24 hour stream for a while, which is part of what convinced me to try the game out.

Right now the only one who’s tried streaming KoF netplay is Arturo Sanchez, which mainly consisted of him unable to find matches where he didn’t find the lag unbearable even though he has FioS.

          Not a good look.

      • Nemesis_Dawn

I do. Just because you don’t use doesn’t mean others shouldn’t have the option to.

    • Luna Kazemaru

      this isn’t MvC -_-

      • ResidentMetroid

Lol I guess I should of pointed out my sarcasm.

Just tried out, and I’m all “awww mann it’s kind of awesome T3T” but not sure if I can commit with such a full fighter schedule T3T; Still it’s a pretty cool game owo I like the rolls, more fighters need rolls >w<~!

Hopefully the patch pans out.  Hate to be a downer, but I’ll just say I’ll be pleasantly surprised if it actually improves but I’m not really counting on it :(

  • Solomon_Kano

Still undecided on whether I’ll get this or not, so I’ll definitely grab the demo. Man, I haven’t played an SNK fighter since… Maximum Impact lol. Yea, I’ll definitely get the demo next week.

    • PrinceHeir

definitely 110% recommend it to you :P

fast paced KOF Goodness, you’ll definitely love it :)

plus the music is sooooo good(being able to hear old songs like from KOFXI and others is badass)

yeah try the demo but definitely buy the game :D

      • Solomon_Kano

Alright. I’ll be certain to check it then.

I’m contemplating if I’ll buy anything else before next year though. It’s set to be a great year for fighters already, but part of me wants to postpone KOF to get them all together lol.

Every series I like has a new entry, and some new ones are coming. It’s exciting stuff lol.

        I’m afraid I’ll need a stick for this. :(

And yet the game is still not out in Australia, thanks to the distributor apparently pulling the plug on it. Life sucks!

Actually, it’s out now in Australia… Both PS3 and Xbox360 on JB Hifi… I bought it on PS3…

  • KyoyaHibari

Way to go Atlus! I’ve been playing casuals with my friends for awhile since the online’s been rather weak, but looking forward to getting back to ranked matches and testing out my signature team some more online! Team SMD Baby! (Saiki.Mature.Duo-Lon/Sadist.Masochist.Demented-Leg/Suck.My.D***) ;P Triple Entendre :D
