Europe Has To Wait Until Summer For Tales Of Graces F

Namco Bandai set March 15 as the release date for Tales of Graces f in North America. Unfortunately, PAL gamers are going to have to wait until summer to find out which characters have "eternal bonds of friendship".

The European version of Tales of Graces f will be localized in French and German in addition to English.

I suppose that will give Tales of the Abyss for Nintendo 3DS more shelf time since that version is available in Europe now. A North American release is slated for February 14, 2012.

Really want to support the EU version, but summer? Really? Guess I’ll have to import :( Sorry Bamco

I’m still unsure. I mean I have the JPN version, and there are a lot of games filling the time between Spring and Summer, but I can’t deny that it’s quite a damn long wait…I guess it’ll depend on if the US version will have a special edition~

That’s what was announced from the very beginning by Yoshizumi 5 months ago, and this is the shortest laps of time there’s ever been between a US version and a localized PAL version, come on…

I don’t mind waiting, so long as we’ll get the game eventually, but… French and German only? God, I’m so tired of these multi3 releases! No wonder JRPGs do not sell well here…

I know I don’t have the right to say this since I live in the US, and I can see why it  would take little awhile longer because of the additional voices, but come on why do our PAL region bro’s have to wait THAT long.

I think the release date is Tuesday, March 13th in North America, you previously reported it in the other article that its March 13th.

Anyway, cant wait, my $39.99 preorder with AMZN is still sitting nice and snugly.

March 15th? I know what I’m getting for my birthday.

Tales of the Abyss 3d was indeed released in Europe already, but it’s sold out pratically everywhere :P We’re hungry for Tales games in Europe!

I gotta pre-order this one or else I won’t be able to get it…assuming this will be even more sought out than Abyss was in here.

    • darkfox1

Im still waiting on a story of how well the game did. I was here thinking the game bomb but i’m hearing the games sold out and people can’t find it anywhere PLEASE SOMEONE ON SILICONERA DO A PAGE ON THE SALES OF TALES OF THE ABYSS 3D IN EUROPE!!!

      • http://twitter.com/FaithlessMr Bruno Silva

To be honest with you, I don’t know if this is so much as the game actually selling great of NB failing at distributing this game properly….I’d say they were being overly cautious and limited the european copies as much as possible.

The game sells for insane prices on ebay. I have never see this happening before.

But at least they can’t say the game didn’t sell well enough, I mean, it is sold out in every major retailer…and I don’t think they’ll restock :/

        • darkfox1

Wow now im even more interested in the whole situation.

      • Ladius

Sadly, they really screwed up with Abyss 3DS’s European release. The game is apparently the rarest one on 3DS so far, and its distribution was so poor some retailers weren’t able to meet their preorders, and others never received a single copy.

So no, the fact that it’s currently sold out almost everywhere doesn’t mean it did well, sadly (or maybe it did, if Namco is satisfied to sell the copies they distributed).

        • http://twitter.com/FaithlessMr Bruno Silva

I knew that the game was indeed rare and whatanot but I had no idea they didn’t even meet pre-orders. I really need to get a hold of a copy real soon then, wouldn’t want to miss this….

EDIT: Also, I know this may be pointless but I’m also thinking about emailing NB Europe and ask them if they are planning on restocking the game anytime soon since there were so little copies being sold…:/

    • Monsley

I’ve heard about Abyss being sold out everywhere in Europe… it’s not
that hard to find in Italy (Amazon sells it for EUR 35) and it’s exactly
the same version you’ll find in the UK (game in English only, box in
English and French, manual in a bunch of languages). Hope this helps in
case you couldn’t get it before it sold out! :)

I’ve just bought it the other day even if I don’t have a 3DS yet because I was terrified it would become super rare like Vesperia!

      • http://twitter.com/FaithlessMr Bruno Silva

Thank you so much for that. All the UK retailers are sold out on this one. It’s even harder to find the game selling in Portugal, I am going to try my chances this weekend at some major retailers, since both GAME and Gamestop didn’t seem to get this game for some weird reason.

I’ll definitely look into importing it from some other country if I can’t find a copy of the game in here, that is for sure. I wasn’t able to get it on release but, damn, it released like three weeks ago…

        • Lion’s Paw

I got a copy of Abyss from Worten recently, might want to try there. They had 2 copies on the shelf. I couldn’t find it in Gamestop, 2 different Fnac stores and one other shop I forget the name of.

I feel bad for Europe, they seem to get a lot of good games late. I hope they get DLC or something to make up for it.

  • Natat

Wait is that the boxart for the US version? … I’m kinda surprised and pleased they didn’t change it into something way more boring.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/GuiltyRaioh ShinkaRaioh

Graces f has 2 covers, so I hope they use both, because the inside of the JPN box is beautiful~

It is. It was on the namco press release.

  • TheMysticalNinja

That fact that it looks like we’re getting a regular dose of Tales games instead of here and there means we’re glad to wait :D

  • http://www.ukanime.com abigsmurf

Gives us time to play Last Story and FFXIII-2 I suppose…

Strange delaying it to such an extreme when Tales of… games always seem to sell out fast and become incredibly rare over here.

  • Istillduno

Thank goodness the PS3 is region free stay free EU publishers lol.

On a Tales of the Abyss note, I live near 2 pretty big citys with 9 dedicated game stores between them and a couple of HMVs, not a single copy was to be found in either city, although grangergames did apparently get a very small stock in which sold out day 1 and has not been replaced since.

A bit of a distribution fail there methinks.

    • Chaheezor

Tales games don’t really stay on shelves more than a few weeks, it’s not that they sell out quickly it’s that retailers only order in so many then don’t re-stock after a while as they think those games will be a waste.

I got mine from shoptoDOTnet, it’ll probably be your best bet. Plus they should still be doing 5min dispatches on it.

      • Istillduno

Yeah I ordered off play.com a while back, it just irks me when Bamco moan about a lack of interest in the west but then don’t make the effort to get games on shelves where people can see them whilst shopping and buy them.

I’m going to guess that this will be good news for the sales of the North American version, as many Europeans will just import it.

    • Go2hell66
    • kupomogli

I don’t want to hear anyone from the PAL regions saying they’re getting screwed out of anything anymore.  Atleast not this gen.  Almost every special edition.  Does the US get a copy?  Hell no.  We don’t even get anywhere near the treatment you guys have got this gen.  As for Japan.  No one gets the treatment they’ve received.

All the amazing special editions.  All the games that got released half a year before a US release was even announced.  All the games that received physical copies such as Siren Blood Curse, Ratchet and Clank Future Quest For Booty, Burnout Paradise Ultimate Box, and others.

Sacred 2 expansion was a PAL only release.  Great game, but the PC expansion never made its way to anywhere else, despite being in our native tongue.  So now I have to buy not only the game again, but also the expansion.  Amazing game if you like Diablo clones btw.

You guys got screwed over back then.  Way back then.  And it was usually by small time publishers who didn’t have a publishing studio over there.  From any larger known publisher you received pretty much everything…. just last, like a month later.  Not seven.  *cough*Xenoblade*cough.*  There have even been releases at those dates that we didn’t receive.

Oh yeah. And just for effect. You people…

      • http://www.oneltwops.org Santashi

It depends on what games you’re after, really. I’ve imported a whole bunch of US games that never got released here (yes, this generation ;) ), and a few that weren’t announced for release until so long after that it looked like they were never going to be released. A number of games that I want do get released at least a few months after the US. Then there’s ones like Overclocked that are unfortunately region locked.

Personally, I think it would have been good if the US could have got Xenoblade at the same time as Europe. I also think it would be good if Europe could get Graces F at the same time as the US. But at least we are both getting both games! :)

This generation has seen some PAL exclusive titles (mostly thanks to Nintendo of Europe, even if some of them will probably go the USA’s way, like Xenoblade) and some juicy PAL limited editions, but that doesn’t change the fact that the American exclusive ones are far more.

Etrian Odyssey 2-3, Rune Factory 2-3, Devil Survivor 1Overclock, 999, Fate/Extra, Jikandia, Zoids Assault, Spectral Force 3, Operation Darkness,  Dark Spire, Rondo of Swords, My World My Way, Mimana Iyar Chronicles, Crimsongem Saga, Hexyz Force, Knights in the Nightmare, Yggdra PSP, Jake Hunter, Steal Princess, Class of Heroes, Lufia DS, Atelier Annie, Super Robot Taisen OG Saga Endless Frontier, Summon Night and a ton of others sill are missing in Europe, and likely will stay that way. And if Square Enix, Namco, NISA and XSeed actively pursue the European market, Atlus USA and Aksys are apparently less interested in bringing their games here, even if things are apparently improving a bit.

Then you have games localized after an extremely long time, like Vesperia or Rune Factory 1, or those that were localized first in Europe but then came to the USA in an improved version (Agarest), or those that are available in Europe as digital only releases (like Ys Seven, Ys OiF, Ys 1-2, ZHP, the Cladun games and others).

And no, in the past Europe didn’t get a TON of games, and not only from small publishers (we missed out on many Square Enix and Namco jrpgs in the PS2 days, for instance). Even then, the European release date was often delayed by far more than one month.

        • kupomogli

Okay.  I didn’t know Europe hasn’t received that many games this gen, some you listed were actually pretty good, there are some on that list I’d be grateful I didn’t receive.

It’s just every where I turned there was a game that I’d wanted that had a great special edition that I wanted and didn’t want to pay the high cost to import when some of them are you order the regular version and first release copies get the special edition, but who knows when I receive it if it’d be the special edition or not?

But yeah. I guess I see what you guys go through on a regular basis.

In a perfect world, we’d all receive localizations for all games. It’s not a perfect world. :(

But hey. What about The Last Story. That was recently announced by Nintendo of Europe. So there’s still a game we haven’t and may not receive without importing.

      • Monsley

Are you saying we should feel “privileged” just because we’ve got Xenoblade (a game that the NTSC U/C region is about to get too, by the way) and a few limited editions with postcards in them? Are you even aware of how many titles were not published in Europe this generation? (Ladius made a great list here.) Not to speak of past generations, obviously, because everybody knows we missed a lot back then.

I don’t want to sound rude and I understand the feeling, I really do, but… if you really wanted all those games so bad, you could just do what us PAL gamers have always been doing: import.

      • http://twitter.com/JezzSan Jezzy

Talk about selective bias. But hey, one thing I’m glad for is that we tend to get the better box art.

    • kupomogli

You could seriously make a much better choice than FF13-2. You should honestly reconsider.

    No Spanish and Italian translations?

You can then consider those two markets as lost, Namco.

    • Go2hell66

But how big are those markets really… the release delay is already too long

      • Monsley

I think the JRPG market in Italy and Spain would be at least a little bigger if games got translated. I know everybody is supposed to be able to understand English nowdays, but the fact is that the vast majority of people cannot speak English very well in Italy (and Spain too, I believe). That said, I understand that they don’t want to get through the trouble just to sell a few more copies and I’m not that upset about it not being translated to Italian and Spanish. I’m just so happy it’ll come to Europe!! :D

why can’t bamco get it at all?
We do not need more european languages attached. We simply want Japanese voice included and of course if possible dual language with english. That’s it.

Not everyone wants the Japanese voices and not everyone understands English in Europe, mate.

Hmmm having played the japanese version already i have a heads up on the “Eternal bonds of friendship” at least now i’ll understand it. Still not to pleased that this comes out in summer over here bit of a downer. Ah well TOTA new game plus and 10x exp should keep me happy.

  • SirRichard

That’s actually good, because the summer is both when I have time and generally when nothing else comes out.

It’s good to see that we may be getting Tales games regularly, Abyss was pretty awesome.

  • Raidou

This was inevitable and I for one am just going to consider myself lucky that it’s getting an EU release at all. I shall now go into media blackout mode with this game to try and make the wait a little less worse. Day 1 purchase for sure though.

I’m just thankful it’s been announced for EU/PAL regions.
