Kingdom Hearts 3D Screens With Dream Eaters And Nightmares

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance lets players control Sora and Riku. The two keyblade wielders aren’t alone either you have animal buddies called Dream Eaters. Screenshots show Sora riding the Wonder Nyah and using the Harilion (that’s something like Needle Lion) as a flail. Riku calls out the Yagihorn, which is a goat with two horns.

La Cite des Cloches from the Hunchback of Notre Dame is one of the game’s new worlds.

While Pinocchio has been featured in past Kingdom Hearts games, Prankster’s Paradise isn’t another Monstro level. Players will see the Blue Fairy change Pinocchio into a real boy and Jiminy Cricket put down his journal to take place in event scenes.

These screenshots show some of the Nightmares Sora and Riku have to battle like the Ice Penguin and Kuma Panda. Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance is slated for release in spring 2012.

Welp… there’s goes my idea of Prankster’s Paradise being an Alternate Dimension inside Monstro. Seriously that would have been awesome!
The screenshots look really cool. The graphics look like its going to push the 3DS to it’s limits. Then again,all the games did that (except Days but that’s just me). Also, I want Sora’s Panda.

Serious Edit: Did anyone catch that symbol on Riku’s back in one of the battle screenshots? It’s looks like the same symbol as the enemies, the Evil Dream Eater Panda? O_o What could this mean?

I presume since Sora is fighting the panda in one screen and then has it behind him like an ally (with a slightly different colour pallett?) that you defeat these ‘nightmares’ to gain the ability to use them. Gotta catch ‘em all! Woo :D

I was wondering that too when I first saw the screens. Since it the game takes place in the Dream world, that does make sense, having the Evil Dream Eaters (Nightmares) on your side when you defeat them.

The truth is out at last- Quasimodo’s true powers, subconsciously supressed after all those years of abuse from Frolla, manifested themselves. He can control stone and buildings with his MIND.

Maybe it really was in his imagination in the original stories but were made real for Disney? I’m not sure since I never read the original.

Well, the full story is pretty complicated… but basically, the gargoyles didn’t exist in the book. Disney added them to the movie for “cutesy mascot” factor, but they also revealed in directors commentaries that the gargoyles weren’t REALLY alive: they were just in Quasimodo’s mind. Notice how they never talk to anyone but Quasimodo? That was on purpose.
Of course, then they show the Gargoyles fighting off the soldiers, but apparently that was supposed to be Quasimodo doing the actual fighting and just… imagining his gargoyle buddies were doing it.
Quasimodo isn’t very right in the head, I guess we could say.

Well I watched Pinocchio this week earlier, and Prankster’s Paradise is indeed a creepy sequence in the film. Especially when they turn into donkeys one by one. I can’t wait to play this level. But who will we fight as a boss in this level? Maybe Coachmen?
Oh and La Cité de Cloches, it will be amazing to play beside with Quasimodo. And I’m sure we will fight Frollo.
Did Riku’s keyblade changed or is it just me? They added an extra angel wing to it, maybe it referse to that Riku has finally overcome his inner darkness?
I can’t wait to play this game!

They entered the Dream World thanks to Yensid and I suppose that, since the game is about starting them off fresh and reteaching them their skills, they were given the form closest to what they had when they first began wielding. His clothes are much cooler than his KH1 gear, though.

Hey! I watched Pinocchio few days ago and I chilled at Prankster’s Paradise sequence. You were right, it was creepy, especially the Coatchmen is a bit too creepy for a kid’s movie (I’m talking about “They never return as kids! MUHAUAHAHAUAHA” sequence).
I can’t wait to see how they build it in to KH3D.

Other than the ridiculous naming scheme, the game looks great, as usual. I’d probably be more hyped if they’d announce the US release already.

Oh boy, those Nightmares are more colorful and vibrant than the usual dream creatures & bakus I see in manga…

I love how “smooth” the game looks. It has the same art style as KH 2 and BBS but everything has a nice clean look to it. The textures aren’t as ugly as they where on the PSP game and the character models aren’t as blocky as they where on the ps2 game. It also looks like a lot of fun and i heard it has a high fps rate which means smooth animations. I’m not liking the new enemies for now, but they seem interesting. Maybe i’ll have a new favorite KH game after this, even though it will be hard to beat KH2 ;)
