Armored Core V, The Only Mecha Battle Game With Wall Jumps

By Spencer . December 19, 2011 . 5:31pm

From Software promised a faster paced Armored Core game and Armored Core V looks like it will live up to that standard. I think this is the only mecha combat game where the robots can bounce off walls!

Armored Core V comes out on January 26 in Japan. Namco Bandai will bring the title overseas sometime next year.

This is exactly the kind of mech combat I want. Fast, devastating, and urban.

      Try S.L.A.I. for PS2.

Armored Core finally living up to some set standards? I’m listening.

Been a fan of the overall concept of the series, and have bought FAR too many of the titles and been disappointed, I just keep going back for more with high hopes only to have them dashed…..

I honestly didn’t see much change from AC2 on the PS2 until even the final installment. AC4 was a step in the right direction with much more mobile mechs (no more running with the bipeds, boosted 24/7 <3) and then For Answer was just another rip of the same game with really lackluster bosses (Fortress types? Yawn)

What really needs to be done is alot more implementation of mass-produced ACs that you'll be battling in various stages instead of helicopters/tanks/ground artillary, MTs….far too much cannon fodder. Game would be so much better if the controller gave you a good amount of feedback that you were actually doing some serious damage to the enemy (lots of vibration with weapon recoil, visible embers/shrapnel from enemy from hits) Idk I just wanna feel like my 30-foot long machine gun is worth a damn, ya know?

It's just those LITTLE things that From needs to look at…they seem to have the exciting mech control down, quickened the pace, better backdrops from what I've seen that are much less bland and minimalistic (a few skyscrapers and a highway in the middle of the desert? Orly? C'mon From…you're on the verge of a breakthrough with mecha gameplay…don't lose steam on me now!

I thought AC2 was already fast paced. Now they really need to bring Nine-Ball back.

    • LynxAmali

I think the trailer might just have said they are. Because, well, that looked awfully like classic Nineball’s chasis. Also; was in ACE R so…maybe. They already have Seraph version modeled…Just use it?

  • Solomon_Kano

This. This is the mech game I’ve been waiting for!

Well, besides Extreme VS., Unicorn, G Generation 3D, etc. Hm… I think there’s a pattern there.

    • PrinceHeir

you forgot ZOE HD Collections :D

      Jehuty 1080p 60FPS(Hopefully)

i just wish someone would localize Extreme Versus and Unicorn as well as Ace Another Century IV.

      • Solomon_Kano

Ah. You’re right, I did! I think we can count on it being 60FPS, but it’ll probably be 720p. At least, if it follows MGS HD, that’s what we can expect.

If someone would localize Extreme VS and Unicorn I’d be so happy I might buy them twice lol. I don’t think we’ll ever see the ACE series though. All of those crossovers makes it tough to bring over, what with the licensing deals.

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Too bad there wasn’t a localized beta. I really wanted to get my hands on this. Mechs hold a dear place in my fictional heart and I want that void filled ASAP!

  • KaruCgSt

As long as it isn´t laggy like the past games, its gonna be awesome

  • GaiunxWolfenX

do my eyes deceive me??? is finally the game that my heart wanted when i got the first armored core, fast adrenaline fuel robot hardcore ACTION!!!

in the words of a great philosopher:
    F**K YEAH!

    • ロークロライ

Yeah, I’m not much into mecha, but this looked ace. Gonna wait for reviews and more footage first before making a purchasing decision.

  • OverlordZetta

There actually… isn’t much gameplay here, is there?

Or is there? I’ve never actually played one of these (been meaning to – I really could use me some mech games), but it looks like a lot of cutscene and other… stuff for the most part.

  • TheMysticalNinja

So they finally perfected Mecha wall jumps! Now there is no excuse to not give us a proper Code Geass video game.

Evidently the strongest materials on the planet are used to create buildings, rather than Armored Cores.
