This Week In Imports: Frontier Gate Opens For Business

By Spencer . December 19, 2011 . 5:01pm

This Week In Imports: Frontier Gate Opens For BusinessWhen tri-Ace wasn’t busy helping Square Enix develop Final Fantasy XIII-2, they were making a PSP game for Konami. Frontier Gate has the flavor of a hunting game, but has command menu battles. Frontier Gate will launch alongside Musou Orochi 2, which swelled into a crossover game with Ryu Hayabusa and Dead or Alive ninja Ayane in it, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Yes, again since this version has Japanese voice acting.

    No Vita releases?

Nothing for me domestically nor abroad. Last week of January cant come fast enough when were back to big releases.

  • Herok

you didn’t list vita games are there any new ones?

  • Solomon_Kano

I only have eyes for Frontier Gate. It’s a pity that Konami likely won’t bring it, so hopefully Aksys or somebody else (not XSEED*) can work something out with them.

*Nothing against XSEED, but they can only do so much. They are still working on SC, after all. Another RPG would likely be too much for them to handle.

Konami USA is too conservative. Much like Namco and SEGA

      • Solomon_Kano

Indeed. I certainly understand though, what with the state of the PSP market here.

        • Gatchaman1

Thats why I say just release the games to PSN as downloadables and make them playabe on the PS3 like the NEOGEO Station

          • Solomon_Kano

The problem is that it still costs to localize it and they’d have to do some retooling to make it playable on PS3. Konami is unlikely to want to put so much into a game that would only see minimal return, despite how cool it’d be for us.

These developers need to start thinking globally if they wanna stay alive this gen and the next

All company nowadays is mostly conservative if u ask me now.

With this kind of economy flowing around what can i say lol especially if the enviroment of PSP games is just baddddd in the western world.
(Well piracy everywhere, People who loves games release on console more than on portable is probably why many game can never be released outside of Japan if they are released on portable system.)

I’m personally looking forward to Magical Lyrical Girl Nanoha A’s Portable: The Gears of Destiny. I haven’t played the older version, and there are a lot of improvements, apparently, so I’m very excited. The battles look epic and really fun! ∩( ^ー^ )∩

I’m also looking forward to Inazuma Eleven Strikers 2012 Xtreme. I haven’t played any in the series, and I don’t really like soccer/football, but Inazuma is different! (^▽^)

I don’t know if I’ll be supporting Tri-Ace’s first game with Konami, but I’ll be supporting their second game with Konami, Beyond the Labyrinth. (☆^ー^☆)

I know I’ve said this, and I must sound like a broken record now, but I’m really looking forward to Beyond the Labyrinth! Every time I hear of Tri-Ace, Labyrinth pops into my mind! (*^ワ^*)

I’m looking forward to next week! Specifically, Nanoha! (◕‿◕✿)

I hope Frontier Gate does well in Japan, well enough for Konami Europe or any other publisher to consider picking it up for localization.

  • theworldofnoboundries
