Serahs Azrael Bow Is Only For Final Fantasy XIII 2 On Xbox 360

After chapter two, Serah can acquire the Azrael bow, a  weapon said to have the power to change the owner’s destiny. Oh, and more importantly in battle it boosts your chain bonus. Here’s the catch, Azrael is a downloadable weapon and you can only buy it if you get Final Fantasy XIII-2 for Xbox 360.

Developer Square Enix says this weapon was created through a collaboration with Microsoft meaning its exclusive to the Xbox 360. You still have to purchase Azrael to use it and the legendary weapon costs 80 Microsoft Points ($1).

    Now I can’t 100% it.

    Meh.

    • http://twitter.com/Crevox Crevox

The weapon won’t exist in the PS3 version, which means you can 100% the PS3 version just fine.

Unless you mean the 360 version, but that was already stated to have TONS of DLC.

      • http://twitter.com/InfinityAge11 InfinityAge11

Wait, so only the 360 version is going to have tons of DLC?

        • Nemesis_Dawn

They’re both going to have tons of DLC. It’s just this one item that won’t be in the PS3 one.

  • http://www.facebook.com/SeraphimBahamut Brett Morris

Wow, lame. Even the design looks bleh, so blockie and unappealing to look at

  • http://slitherup.tumblr.com/ THRONE

I don’t like DLC in RPGs.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Leafy_Cam Leafhopper

Does ANYONE actually like DLC in RPGs? Especially Japanese ones?

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000301072427 Mark Shaver

That’s the only place I like it, really. I have the most fun playing jrpgs, so I’d much rather see an extension to a game I did like playing for a good amount of time than for a game that was too short to feel like it was worth the initial investment.

      • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

I do! Mass Effect 1/2 had awesome DLC.

      • http://tristsantithesis.tumblr.com/ Tsunayoshi Sawada

Disgaea DLC is great, I would always love to have access to my favorite characters in each game.

        • Nemesis_Dawn

Disgaea actually does have pretty cool DLC. Personally, I prefer stuff like the Raspberyl extra chapters over extra characters, but still, they do it right.

  • http://www.facebook.com/shawn.dickenson1 Shawn SomethingOtaku Dickenson

    useless DLC ugh

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Leafy_Cam Leafhopper

But aesthetics are all the rage now a days!

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000301072427 Mark Shaver

So what do you want? DLC Content that does have merit, like a scenario, so you can complain about how it should have been in the game in the first place?

Oh, and when I ask what do you want, I mean in regards to dlc. Inb4gamesshouldcomewithallthecontentthefirsttimearound.

  • Gatchaman1

This gen really is a kicker aint it….

    • godmars

Profits over quality my friend. Profits with quality is dead.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000301072427 Mark Shaver

It’s just a buck, so it’s not too bad. Sucks that I can’t get it on ps3 but it’s nothing major, especially as far as console-exclusive content/dlc goes. I’ve seen much, much worse.

    • SerendipityX

I was expecting it to be two bucks at the least, so its definitely not bad at all since I’m getting the 360 version and have a bunch of Microsoft points I don’t really use. :D

      • Aoshi00

Yeah, a buck is certainly not bad at all, and I’ve bought some 4000 pt cards for $40 (I missed the deals when you could get them for even lower), so it’s like 80 cents for me..  Still, gotta load up my points for the Live arcade Xmas countdown sale everyday, just got Bastion and Insanely Twisted Planet for 600 pts each :) Got Radiant Silvergun and Bangai-O on sale too, crazy shmups.. have a huge XBLA backlog now *.* Really want to get Raam’s Shadow DLC for Gears 3 (on sale for $10 on Gamestop), but I guess I’d wait for the Season Pass to go on sale later.. Too bad the US 360 ver is not getting that calendar..

        • SerendipityX

          >.< I wanted that calendar, too. Erk, I'm trying to avoid the Live arcade Xmas countdown sale since my backlog was already too long before it even started. You're teasing me…with all those games you got especially Bastion been eyeing that one for a while. @_@ Too many good games…

          • Aoshi00

Yeah, too bad about the calendar.. I wish they would throw us a bone, at least have unlockable gamer pics or avatar items :)  Well, I guess I would be getting some DLC for PS3 (like Omega) and some costumes on 360 ver, Serah will walk around in her resort style bikini in my game :)

  • http://twitter.com/adrian_staylor Adrian

just another way mircosoft is trying to get people to buy the 360 version instead of the ps3 version, first it was the calender now this >.> i’m sorry but in my opinion rpgs were always meant for the playstation

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000301072427 Mark Shaver

That’s why most of the revered classics were on Nintendo systems, right?

      • http://twitter.com/adrian_staylor Adrian

you got me there nintendo has a fine library of classics

      • Nemesis_Dawn

Unless you’re talking about the DS, Nintendo hasn’t had the RPG’s on its systems for, what, three generations?

    • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

That’s…sort of a fan boyish comment… (please dont want to go argue about consoles but I swear it had to be said)

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Alexander-Groce/100000039461956 Alexander Groce

I find it funny that Aoshi00 would like this comment, considering it was him/her who liked some idiot spouting about how superior and innovative WRPGs are even though they’ve been producing the same gameplay for decades.

        • Aoshi00

Hm.. not sure which post you’re referring to that I liked :).. could it be the Call of Duty MW3 selling more than Ni no Kuni post by any chance?  I don’t care for fanboys who constantly diss a genre they dislike (usually FPS here) or a system they don’t own (usually the 360 here). I think all consoles have great games and all genres have their merit.  Unfortunately FPS is not my forte, but I could see the appeal of such games as I have many friends and coworkers who play them, so if anyone and everyone jumps on hating FPS, I like the comments that defend them.  I like the fact that Jpn starts to appreciate some quality Western games and don’t dismiss them in recent years.

Sure, there are console- or store- specific pre-order incentives, that goes for both Jpn and the US, love it or hate it.. you order from Best Buy you get that skin, you order from Gamestop you get that.. nothing wrong w/ generating more business.  As for the hate on DLC, if people think a costume or weapon is useless, then just don’t buy it, why keep whining about it constantly..  It’s not like games last gen haven’t gotten director’s cut release w/ addt’l content, now we’re given the option to buy addt’l contents selectively instead of being forced to double dip.  I like both of my 360 and PS3 equally for different reasons.  For 13-2, I’m importing the Jpn ver on PS3, and am getting the LE for 360 from Best Buy.

          • Monsley

God, I HATE when people blame FPS for everything bad in the world! (And I don’t even like FPS!)

…Sorry for meddling in, but I really needed to say this.

          • Aoshi00

Nah.. I hear you.. unfortunately quite many people love hating FPS and the 360/MS here.. oh, they all destroyed our precious JRPGs.. Just play the games that you like and ignore the FPS genre.. I’m interested in FPS, but I’m not good at them.  Sure FPS is popular here, just like everybody plays Monster Hunter or Dragon Quest in Japan, it’s just different taste and culture..  I don’t play MonHun either, but I guess I could see why millions in Jpn play it.

People keep saying how bad the 360 is selling in Jpn in almost every single post, well, at least they keep trying their best.  MS Jpn produces lots of video segments introducing new releases and featuring interviews w/ directors/producers on Jpn Live which I find to be very interesting, even PSN don’t have those things.. Well, you have Qore but it’s subscription mag or free for Plus subscriber, or Christina Lee I guess.. where the heck did Veronica Belmont go, now it’s a different dude *.*…

          • Monsley

People who rage over the Xbox 360 are even more of a mystery to me. (Console war in general is a very idiotic thing, if you ask me.)
I don’t care about any particular console (although I like the 360 controller much better than the Dualshock), I care about games, and those exclusive JRPGs the Xbox has, along with its price, were the reason it was the first console I bought this gen.

As for FPS being so popular at the moment, I don’t see what the big deal is. It’s a trend; these things happen all the time… entertainment, just like fashion, follows certain trends.
Who knows, maybe in five years everybody will be playing JRPGs, and Call of Duty fans will complain about how they ruined the FPS genre. :D

          • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

Oh wow what did I cause?

          • malek86

You should have known better, really.

          • Aoshi00

Nah, thanks for being the voice of reason, fanboys will be fanboys.. MS bad, 360 bad, FPS bad, DLC bad, exclusive DLC bad, PS3 exclusives good.. never hear the end of it :)

          • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

yes I know I’m replying to myself but I can’t reply to any of the two people who replied to me. I’m not so good at trying to say what I want to say so please bear with me (also drinking doesn’t help my thoughts).

@aoshi00:disqus – Sure…I guess. Developer can do whatever they want with the game as long as I can enjoy the game I’m playing without any disruption of DLC requirements. What I mean is as long as it’s unrelated to the main story, I don’t care what DLC they put out. Similar things could be said about choice of console and genre.

For those who have a problem with DLC, ask yourself this, does it ruin your playthrough by any chance? are you being forced to purchase these DLC? is it even worth complaining about?

            @malek86:disqus – yeah….I should have….

      • http://twitter.com/adrian_staylor Adrian

i didn’t mean for the comment to come out that fan boyish and i don’t wanna start arguing about consoles either, it was just an honest opinion rpgs do better on the ps3 the same way shooters do better on the xbox.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002338540980 Ethan Russell

    this
hopefully means there will be a dlc weapon/monster/scenario that will be ps3 exclusive

  • Nemesis_Dawn

Yeah, that’s still not going to get me to buy it on 360. As a dual system owner, I don’t want to play Mass Effect on my PS3 and I don’t want to play Final Fantasy on my 360. Some things just belong in certain places.

    • Aoshi00

Hm.. I think you just kinda get used to it.. like FF1-6 was on Nintendo, 7-12 on Playstation, and now 13 and after are multiplatform.. like Sonic used to be on Sega systems, it was crazy to think it would end up on Gamecube and GBA.. and now all the new titles and even classics are on PSN and XBLA like Sonic “CD”…  I just go w/ my preferred controller, I thought I would stick w/ PS3 for MGS Collection, turns out I much prefer playing Peacewalker on the 360, don’t like the springy L2/R2 triggers (can’t stand the PSP control btw).. so as time goes on, it doesn’t seem all that unnatural..

      • Nemesis_Dawn

I never owned any Sega systems. All I’ve had, up until this point have been Playstation and, then this gen, I got a 360 when Lost Odyssey and Tales of Vesperia were out. Having played so many RPG’s on the PS1 and PS2, I do prefer to play them on a Playstation. I got my 360 mostly because with how bad the PS3 launch was and how quickly Microsoft took charge of the JRPG market in the beginning of this gen, I wasn’t sure there were even going to be any RPG’s for the PS3. Ken Kutaragi screwed the pooch so badly early this gen, I wasn’t 100% sure the system wasn’t dead in the water.

Once things settled down and Sony took the lead in the genre in Japan, I bought myself one. Now, I can only think of two games I’ll be getting for my 360 (Mass Effect 3 and the new XBLA Alan Wake). I don’t know. Maybe it’s just that I prefer Western games be on a Western system and Japanese games on a Japanese system or something. If those early JRPG’s had been multiplatform or just PS3-only, I don’t think I would’ve even bought a 360 (but then I would’ve missed out on ME1, Alan Wake, and Deadly Premonition).

        • Aoshi00

I imported a 360 to play Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey at first too, somehow I just ended up liking the system and getting almost all multiplatform games on it.  For shooters I definitely prefer the 360 controller.  Yeah, the PS3 had a pretty bad launch and initial library, I remember how barren the PSN was like at the beginning.. kinda regret getting it 1 month after launch, but MGS4 was worth it, and I don’t really use the backward compatibility to play old PS2 games that much.. now I really only get exclusives on it like Uncharted or other PSN games, and watch lots of blu-rays and Netflix on it.. the PS3  bluetooth remote is great.

Well, times change.. some franchises were never solely on Playstation.. and now that both HD consoles could handle similiar spec, so you get multiplatform (I do love Gears, Alan Wake, Lost Odyssey, Mass Effect, Jpn shmups, VNs like Steins;Gate and many XBLA games).. I’ve played tons of Dragonball RPGs on the Famicom and Super Famicom when I was a kid, but now they’re on both Sony and 360 consoles..  Sonic used to be on the Genesis, Game Gear, Mega CD, Dreamcast, etc, but the situation is different now.

I own all consoles and think they all of great games worthy of playing.  I wouldn’t want to be missing out on any of them, what I don’t have is time though :)  I have backlog on all 3 consoles, 2 portables, and now digital games.. like my friend said, we probably won’t finish our backlog even if we stop buying games and stop working today lol..

  • http://twitter.com/VasiliiHellsing Vasilii Hellsing

Do they really think ppl will buy X360 with XIII-2 just to get this bow? I don’t think so, at least not me. I already gonna spent enough money on XIII-2 *looks at Crystal Edition & 2 US editions*.

X360 owners get it, good 4 ‘em. PS3 owners don’t, WHATEVER.

  • http://openid.anonymity.com/5HuDuQyz Woot

Ah, how I miss the old times when you actually had to go on a quest, collect stuff, speak to someone, beat the crap out of a boss and finally collect your new shiny weapon…Now it’s just DLC here and DLC there.

Please, bring those times back again…

    • http://twitter.com/InfinityAge11 InfinityAge11

Xenoblade brought those times back in full, you should play that or look into it if you havent :)

  • http://radiantloki.blogspot.com/ Mark Dinh

Waaa? Man, I never liked DLC! Especially for RPGs, it just doesn’t feel right. ME2 I never mind because that was a mixture… $1 for this a good I suppose.

  • l777l

    Enough with this DLC madness.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Max-Lestage/100001999473380 Max Lestage

It’s only $1, and you don’t have to buy it at all. If you want the weapon that’s fine, if not move along. All this whining about dlc is making me sick. The developers aren’t  forcing you to pay for it. I said it before and I’ll say it again, other jrpgs already did stuff like this, so making a complaint every time another FFXIII-2 dlc article pops up makes very little sense.

  • http://tristsantithesis.tumblr.com/ Tsunayoshi Sawada

Kind of an awkward type of collaboration. lol. Surely they could have done something that was more meaningful.

  • http://twitter.com/FaithlessMr Bruno Silva

It looks horrible, seriously. Serah’s weapons in this game look fugly. Noel’s, on the other hand, are amazing.

    • godmars

Funny, thought his look just as fugly if not more unrealistic and unwieldy.

At least the Serah’s bow forms look like they’re designed to make up for her obvious lack of strength.

According to many notable usa sites MS doesn’t care about Japanese games.

        this DLC is useless tho

  • MizuMikomi

Wow, I thought MS always paying off more for exclusives; I am aware other companies do this so don’t even start, but now they’ve stooped to paying for exclusive DLC?

I am sorry, but that is pathetic.

  • xAKUM3TSUx

Wow…All this is is optional DLC and everyone thinks that microsoft is trying to up its game or something. Well watever…I never get this kinda stuff (the optional DLC) but at least MS is trying. I mean they’re not begging for you to get this from the start so stop whining.

  • TheMysticalNinja

Eh I’ll always go with the PlayStation version, just because I’m use to playing Final Fantasy on a Sony console (aside from exclusives). I’m sure I’ll get over on missing out on a special bow.

is that a comforting gift for having an inferior system?
