Only You Can Put Dragon Quest’s World Back Together

By Spencer . December 26, 2011 . 5:34pm

Only You Can Put Dragon Quests World Back TogetherWe’ve seen plenty of figure collections, at least a dozen Dragon Quest ones from Square Enix. Another slime pack wouldn’t cut it for the series’ 25th anniversary, they had to create something new. Enter the Dragon Quest I diorama.

Square Enix cut the world map into eleven pieces, which fans can collect and reassemble. The Dragon Quest I map series also has nine monsters like a chimera, dracky, golem, Dragonlord, and of course a slime.

Each map/monster pack costs 735 yen ($9.50) and contains one piece. Like trading arts figures, you won’t be able to see which piece or monster is in the package until you open it. The Dragon Quest I diorama series comes out in Japan in March 2012.

Ooooooh! That’s sooo cool! But super expensive when you consider that you may have to buy more than just 11 packs for the whole set…which I definitely would, as my luck is rank E..>__<

“Each map/monster pack costs 735 yen ($9.50) and contains one piece.”

    Screenshot shows 11 pieces, so…..

    11 x 9.50 =
    $104.05

    ._.

Yea, and then you’d be importing anyway and that’s more money. Plus there’s no guarantee you’d get every piece in one try so you might buy more than 11… *sigh* farewell, my excitement.

  • http://twitter.com/DanijoEX DanijoEX

Well…I’m not spending that kind of money just to get every piece knowing that chances are, you’re getting the same piece.

  • Solomon_Kano

:O That’s aw- wait. I dunno what piece I’m getting til I open it? And each is like 10 bucks? Before the cost of importing? Oy vey, looks like I won’t be getting it.

The thrill of the hunt makes me want them more.

      • Solomon_Kano

Hm… the thrill of the hunt -is- a powerful thing.

then comes the dreaded buyers remorse

          • Solomon_Kano

Ah. True. Perhaps the only rival to the thrill.

i know a place that’ll probably sell these for less if he gets them

          • Solomon_Kano

@facebook-100000446926616:disqus Oh? That would be great.

That’s usually how figures are sold in Japan :P

      • Solomon_Kano

Really? Well, that would certainly make getting presents interesting.

    Cool.

  • Barrylocke89

So if you’re supposed to team up with friends to put the pieces together…who gets to keep the complete diarama?

  • thebanditking

This looks really cool, and SE DQ Toy line are really well made and painted.

  • ZomaNeko

This looks pretty fun actually~  I like how DQ trading figures can fit nicely on the world map as well :3
