Atlus Teases: That Title Youve Been Waiting For May Be AnnouncedFamitsu asked a handful of publishers their thoughts on the new year and Shin Megami Tensei developer Atlus teased their fans by saying, "That title you’ve been waiting for may be announced."

 

Out of all of Atlus’ series, we’ve been waiting the longest for a new… Snowboard Kids game. The last one came out for the DS in 2005, so it *must* be that. Just kidding!

 

Aquaplus teased news too saying look for an announcement in a few days. Nippon Ichi also hinted news about a new game will come from an illustration so look for that in the near future.

    While I want it to be be something like Devil Survivor 3, SMT5, SMT 1&2 remakes, or something like that. We all know it’s going to be a god damn Persona game. Why of all the series to become the most popular was Persona the one? It has literally the most infuriating fanbase I have ever come across. There are the nice ones who just like the game and even experiment with other MegaTen games. And then there are those who refuse to even try the other games and get upset when anything other than more Persona is announced and throw a tantrum about it.

      While I’d love another Devil Survivor (the first was easily my favorite thing they’ve made in recent years, waiting on the English release to see how 2 is), the last thing I want is for it to become Persona 2.0, so them shoving out a third one or more remakes and whatnot might be counter-productive for it.

      SMT remakes would be pretty awesome though. I DO know they said there would be some kind of 3DS SMT game somewhere down the line, but I doubt this is referring to that.

      Long has gone the day where we enjoy the game for what it is and care not for any external factor?

      If they do make another Persona game and it turned out to be a turd (hard thing to do for Atlus), then I don’t care what the world tell, it would still be a turd to me.

        Because those external factors do matter. Notice how Atlus has been pumping out Persona games, rereleases, spin-offs, ports, etc. like crazy? It’s already completely overshadowed every other SMT series. Why? Because Persona 3 and especially Persona 4 happened to get a much larger following than any of the other games.

        It’s sad when the main series (Although, I guess Megami Tensei is technically the main series, but it was made by different people) in a franchise gets less attention than some spin-off.

    While I am a die hard Persona fan, I also like smt games… And it seems as if everybody is writing this off as p5 or p3pfes The Platinum HD, i think out of all publishers Atlus gives the most fanservice and the most surprises. I can never predict what Atlus will release so I’m going to say it could be anything.

    Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers port / remake for the PSP / VITA.

    Or even better, SMT4 for the PS3.

    Hmmm…. Well they already did Innocent Sin for the PSP… How about maybe Eternal Punishment now?! 8D
