Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Has A Bit Of Final Destination In It

By Spencer . January 4, 2012 . 5:03pm

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 centers around a mysterious website that lets people see deaths before they occur. The silent protagonist finds himself on the page… about to be killed by a subway train. They survive and will have to use this website to save their friends from doom in Devil Survivor 2.

Will you be able to rescue everyone? Find out in February when Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 comes out on the Nintendo DS.

Any word if there will be an “overclocked” version on the 3DS? The first one was awesome, but i rather get the upgraded version.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000301072427 Mark Shaver

Same. Especially if/since this one doesn’t have voice acting.

    • Exkaiser

      No word.

i would say not, releasing it on DS makes more sense from a business prospective. There are more DS units in the market, cheaper pricing, plus it’ll still play on the 3DS so this is win for everyone.

Better to be safe than sorry, i’d wait for awhile.

      • Testsubject909

        I wasn’t sorry that I purchased P3 despite P3FES and P3P.

        Or sorry I bought P4 despite P4Golden.

Plus, it’s me giving continued financial support to a company I like well enough and stating that there’s a continued interest for the series itself.

If anything, I’d laugh if the sales for SMT:DS2 was too low that they choose to cancel continuing the series and everyone who opted to be safe rather then sorry feels sorry about it.

    • PrinceHeir

      i’ll wait too :)

Isn’t that like counting your chickens before they hatch?

Compared to Overclocked, the only thing they could “upgrade” is voice acting and graphics (tho they are superior than DS1 DS). It actually has everything else, and I think even more demons than Overclocked. And I haven’t gotten a cliffhanger ending like most of the ones in DS1, too. I’d say it’s safe to buy, but you never know…

    • Testsubject909

I’ll be getting it for the DS day one.

I’m really looking forward to Devil Survivor 2 now. Those prophecies reminds me of Mirai Nikki.

    “How will you die?” feels very cheesy. >_>;;

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Daniel-Morandi/100000837836996 Daniel Morandi

      >Mirai Nikki

NOPE, don’t compare it with that stupid manga. You know that is a SMT and you should know Devil Survivor already. There is nothing in this game that will remind you to Mirai Nikki beside the prophecy.

      • poisui

Don’t put words in my mouth. I said the prophecies “remind” me of Mirai Nikkai. Never did I do any comparison. What the hell are you talking about?

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Daniel-Morandi/100000837836996 Daniel Morandi

Tha part that is very cheesy feels like you actually talking about Devil Survivor 2.

What’s wrong with Mirai Nikki D8

        • poisui

For me at least, Mirai Nikkai’s ending is really patchy.

I hope you enjoy the series more than I did though.

Meh!!! I might as well buy the two Devil Survivor game for the DS since I definitely know that Devil Survivor Overclock won’t be coming out to Europe.

  • Herok

still getting this day one i loved overclocked its my most played 3ds game

  • CrazyKnives

I dont care if this game has voice acting or not, I dont need it to enjoy a game. Therefor I cannot wait to play this.

  • http://twitter.com/Laith_Rem Laith Rem

Ah yes Nicaea. It’s slightly better than the Laplace mail since this one gives you videos.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Wayne-LaBranch/100002132711844 Wayne LaBranch

Let’s not say the game has a bit of that stupid series of movies (first two were enjoyable though)  More like…the Dead Zone : P but anywho Devil Survivor was one of my favorite DS games, so i can’t wait for this

  • SetzerGabbiani

Can’t wait.  Day one for certain.  Already pre-ordered months ago.

  • ShadowWolf

    my attention, you have it

With this and Pokémon’s crossover, my DS isn’t dead after all :’D.

  • http://twitter.com/NintenPilgrim Ninten

About damn time. I honestly can’t wait enough for this game.

  • http://myanimelist.net/profile/Kuronoa Kuronoa

Oh wow February.  A little crowded here and there but I’m getting this ASAP.

  • http://twitter.com/FaithlessMr Bruno Silva

Someone should totally pick this one up for Europe eventually.

    *cough*GHOSTLIGHT*cough*RISINGSTARGAMES*cough*

    • Juho Vuolo

Thank heavens that DS is region free. I bought the first one a year ago, and even the remake on 3DS hasn’t been announced coming to Europe.

And I shall import this one, also. No point in waiting, especially if the chances are quite slim to begin with, since the first one never saw the day of PAL release.

      • http://twitter.com/FaithlessMr Bruno Silva

Yeah…I don’t like importing games because I usually end up having to pay more than I’d like to, but….I guess I’ll have to do that with this game. Since we didn’t get the first one, I’d hardly see someone picking up the sequel for localization anyway.

Oh well, ’twas worth the shot :P

  • DDanny

Looking nice, although the alignment inconsistencies are always annoying

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dylan-Ng/100000854638739 Dylan Ng

    SMT X Final Destination/Future Diary X NGE = AWESOME!!

Do hope for N3DS ver. with voices….

Just one qtn: Is this related in any way to the 1st game?

    • SuigetsuHiramura

Atlus is very good when it comes to making remakes of it’s games (the Persona series, for example).  So it’s likely we will get a remake for the 3DS.

Aside from a similiar battle system and general gameplay features, it won’t be related to the first one’s story.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dylan-Ng/100000854638739 Dylan Ng

So there no cameo of those characters in DS1? I would love to see the shrine girl or yuzu in this game…

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Alexander-Groce/100000039461956 Alexander Groce

    Very nice.
