Vanillaware Rings In The New Year With A Goddess

George Kamitani, president of Vanillaware, celebrates each new year with new artwork. For 2012, he drew an illustration of Mahishasuramardini, a form of a Hindu goddess that defeated an asura that could morph into a buffalo.

Vanillaware probably isn’t making a game with Mahishasuramardini as the main character, though! Right now, they’re working on Dragon’s Crown which is slated for release on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita in spring 2012.

            Looks to be the same resolution as the larger image on Siliconera.  Ah well… not that I’d actually use it as a wallpaper due to the NSFW nature.

        Okay okay, you’re right. That’s pretty disrespectful. But it’s a generalization of many things with arms, which includes beings with many arms, objects with many arms, and artwork that shows many arms. I just wasn’t sure how to cover all the ends.

        Anyway, I guess my appreciation of arms comes from the Thousand Armed Buddha/Guanyin.

            Octopi are awesome. Not going to lie. They’re limber, the central villain of tentacle related h-games, can change colours and squirt ink to escape. But eight arms too?! That just makes it awwwweesssome. Er. Awesomer.

      I imagine its not that hard to do if the company isn’t all that large (and I’m assuming Vanillaware isn’t).  

      Cevat Yerli is the President and CEO of Crytek (which I believe is a much bigger company) and he has directed Crysis 1 and 2.

      Yep, not only is he the president/CEO of Vanillaware, he’s also the director, artist, game designer, story/scenario writer as well in almost all of their games. So yes, he’s REALLY a busy guy and it’s amazing that he can manage those roles.

      Though they’re starting to branch out with Grand Knights History since Kamitani was not involved in that game.

    By George, he’s got it! I only have utmost repect for this man’s talent. Even it it wasn’t tantalizing, it would still be beautiful. Hype levels (and other ‘bodily’ things) for Dragon’s Crown have risen again.
