Can Sine Mora Reboot The Shooter Genre?

Recommended Videos

The shooter genre (and we’re not talking about Call of Duty shooters) used to be the most popular genre in the world when Space Invaders and Galaga ruled arcades. While the fanbase seems to have broadened thanks to digital distribution and Cave’s iOS ports, shooters are still niche.

Is it because bullet hell is overwhelming for players who haven’t kept up with the genre? Maybe. Digital Reality and Grasshopper Manufacture think that’s one of the issues and designed Sine Mora with two difficulty levels. Casual looks like it’s on par with Gradius and "insane" difficulty doesn’t look that crazy.

Rebooting shooters is a lofty goal. Let’s see if Sine Mora lives up to its promise when it comes out on Xbox 360.
