Is Namco Bandai Making One Piece: New World Cruise?

By Spencer . January 20, 2012 . 4:39pm

Is Namco Bandai Making One Piece: New World Cruise? While we only saw One Piece: Unlimited Adventure in North America, Namco Bandai made Wii three games with Luffy for Japan and Europe. One Piece: Unlimited Cruise 1: The Treasure Beneath the Waves and One Piece Unlimited Cruise 2: Awakening of a Hero were translated into English and released with Japanese voice acting in PAL territories. Both titles were bundled together to create One Piece: Unlimited Cruise Special for the 3DS.

Right now Namco Bandai is busy with One Piece: Pirate Warriors, but after that the next game with the Straw Hat pirates might be One Piece: New World Cruise. Namco Bandai filed a trademark for New World Cruise in Japan and that ties in nicely with the New World story arc and Cruise video game series.

Seems like we have a match, but which system will One Piece: New World Cruise be for? Wii? 3DS? Both?

Epic news since we can always have more of mugiwara boy…but I wish they would have waited for Oda to do another arc. Fishman Island wasnt the most interesting arc and only a small drop in the New World. unless everything in the game will be “original” content.

    • RaikageV

Is Fishman Island actually in the new world? Isn’t it just the frontier (cause it’s beneath the Red Line)?

  • James Beatty

I really liked the first one and i was looking forward to the 3ds one…but it didn’t come over

  • http://profiles.google.com/zferolie A.J. Ferolie

I loved the first one, but the second never came to america. Come on, bring One Piece to America! Don’t make me have to buy another wii and never update it so I can use my currently useless freeloader!

  • aoihana

I’m going to finish watching/reading One Piece one day, mark my words! Until then, I’ll patiently wait for New World Cruise because regardless of the system, I’m covered!
    (ノ>▽<。)ノ

    But I do hope it’s for the 3DS! (◕‿◕✿)

    • http://twitter.com/DanijoEX DanijoEX

I wish you luck on accomplishing that.
I don’t read much of One Piece as much I used to. Oh well, maybe my interest will come to me someday.

      • Testsubject909

Reading One Piece is easy. Just one chapter a week.

It’s watching One Piece that might take more time, especially if you missed out a few episodes. At least that’s my take on it.

But I find little problem doing so anyways. Though it can be a bit imposing pending how many arcs you’re missing.

And also if you’re both reading and watching, you might be less motivated to watch the anime, especially due to certain pauses. They’re dramatic, emotionally moving and well suited, but when you already know what’s going on it can be a bit much. Especially the well placed cliffhangers and you’re just dying to see that next awesome moment that you know is coming.

True, true. I’ve been reading the Manga for months (maybe even over a year) that when I tried to get back to the Anime, it feels very slow. Well, some parts are actually padded, to be blunt. But the music and voice acting is something I can’t get from the Manga, so that’s still nice.

    • http://profiles.google.com/zferolie A.J. Ferolie

It’s worth it to catch up. One Piece is awesome. Sadly, it may take a few days of reading to catch up. Watching… maybe a week.

      • Herok

a week from where Sabo arc? anything before that is going to take a least a month to catch up from.

        • http://profiles.google.com/zferolie A.J. Ferolie

True. I just remembered once I spent a long weekend doing nothing but watching One Peice, but this was back where the anime was only around the Water 7 part if I remember correctly.

In fact, I need to catch up again. I watched all of Imp Down. Is the anime at the time skip yet?

          • GamerKT

            Yes.

          • http://profiles.google.com/zferolie A.J. Ferolie

Sweet. Now I just need to find someplace to watch it.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Thomas-Høivik/1282711040 Thomas Høivik

i’m currently up-to-date with the anime, and its awesome its my fav anime ever.

but it will take u some time to catch up. at the moment of writing this the one piece anime is at its 532nd episode and still rolling fast i’m expecting the anime to last for atleast another 200 episodes seeing as it took the series over 400 episodes for luffy to explore half of the world, and they just got to new world which is like the remaining half of the planet.

Bad news, the european version of One Piece: Unlimited Cruise Special will only include the first Unlimited Cruise – The Treasure Beneath the Waves + the Marineford Mode – Namco Bandai confirmed it on their website :

Sad day for the One Piece fans :(

    • http://profiles.google.com/zferolie A.J. Ferolie

Wait I’m confused. So it only has the first game? Or does it have the second Game? I thought the second game came with marine ford and stuff…

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Farid-Belkacemi/1073052585 Farid Belkacemi

Just the first one + the marineford mode. Unlimited Cruise 2 will not make it.

        • http://profiles.google.com/zferolie A.J. Ferolie

Ah, so Europe just gets the first game that the US got, plus one little extra mode?

          That seems stupid.

EDIT: OH I see. It’s the 3DS version of the game thats supposed to have both parts in it, not just the first part. I was thinking the first game was unlimited adventure, haha.

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Thomas-Høivik/1282711040 Thomas Høivik

japan gets  unlimited cruise SP containing both part 1 & 2 + marineford
europe gets unlimited cruise SP containing only part 1 + marineford
this is because the european version had 5 audio laungages added so its simply wasnt room for the part 2 of the game, but nintendo and namco was nice enough to include an exclusive portugas D ace figurine with the first shippments of the game, so if u pre order the game or buy it when it releases you should get  a ace figurine with it.

the japanese version is said to be about 50 hours of gameplay if i understood it properly, which means since europe only gets 1 part the european game will be about 25 hours long, which isnt bad, it would ofc be better with both games, but hey..lets just be happy we get it at all, US doesnt get the game at all, which is sad and even worse news for US OP fans.

          • http://profiles.google.com/zferolie A.J. Ferolie

I think I’m just going to inport the special European duel disk version for the Wii, since it’s cheaper to get a second wii to play import games then it is to get a second 3DS

  • Samurai_Heart

Man, I can be empathetic towards you, but to spite others due to your dissapointment is low man. I mean America gets a load of thing Europe doesn’t and yet I’m not angry at America but upset that no publisher are willingly to publish certain titles, like Radiant Historia etc.

    • http://twitter.com/DeepGamersisGay CB Beta Never Forget

Correction: America USED TO get loads of things Europe doesn’t. Now it’s Europe who gets absolutely everything while we North Americans are left with the scraps. These days Europe misses roughly one game every blue moon. And even then America usually misses out on those games Europe misses as well. America getting anything Europe doesn’t in this day and age is like seeing a phoenix flying through the sky. It’s nothing but a myth.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Farid-Belkacemi/1073052585 Farid Belkacemi

Except 2 nintendo games (The Last Story, Pandora’s Tower), I don’t understand what you’re trying to say : Baten kaitos 2 was published in the US, not in Europe… Like Lunar Silver Star, Ys VII, Radiant Historia, Valkyrie Profile (PS1), Suikoden 3, Tales of the Abyss (we had to wait november 2011 to get it), Chrono Cross, Xenogears…

You’re crying for only two games ? Really ?

        • RaikageV

          Totally true.
And maybe even Last Story and Pandoras Tower will come to NA.

      • KyoyaHibari

Yeah, I actually agree, the days of Europe being treated like crap by gaming developers is over, Europe gets LOADS of great games now, not to mention those special editions, I mean, hell, most of the special editions of games THEY receive are better than Japan where they make the games, especially with Slug-pace Enix & Scamco ;P

      • Ladius

It’s rather sad to see how you despise other people for reasons that are not only absurd (Europeans should get less games just because NoA didn’t publish Xenoblade as soon as everyone wanted?), but also completely false.

During this generation, Europe missed out on Radiant Historia, 999, Etrian Odyssey 2-3, Devil Survivor (and DS Overclock, too), Jake Hunter, Heroes Saga Laevatein, Rune Factory 2-3, Atelier Annie, Mimana Iyar Chronicles, Operation Darkness, Crimsongem Saga, Yggdra Union PSP, Knights in the Nightmare DS (and PSP), Front Mission, Shiren Wii, Trauma Team, Arc Rise Fantasia, Spectral Force 3, Zoids Assault, the three Gagharv Legend of Heroes games, Glory of Herakles, Brave Story, Jikandia, Nostalgia and a ton of others.

A ton of games released with limited or regular editions in the USA are released as download-only games in Europe: Ys Seven, Ys OiF, Ys Chronicles, ZHP, Prinny 2, Disgaea Infinite, Lunar SSH, Phantom Brave PSP, Persona Revelations, Generation of Chaos AE, Spectrals Souls RotEE and others, to mention a few.

A lot of games’ European release dates are delayed compared to the American ones: Tales of Vesperia, Rune Factory, Persona 3 Portable, Trails in the Sky, Rune Factory Oceans and a lot of others.

Other games are released in Europe  before their American release, but the American edition has more contentsa more polished translation, like Agarest 1 or Spectral Force Genesis.

Also, the USA still have exclusive limited editions and bonus: all NISA games have limited or premium editions in the USA, but only regular editions in Europe, for example.

On the other hand, you have some European-exclusive limited editions, some exclusive games from NoE (Inazuma, TLS, Another Code Wii and Last Window, while Xenoblade will be released in the USA), but it isn’t like NoA hasn’t some exclusive games, too, not to mention Europe missed out on literally hundreds of jrpgs and Japanese games during the last generations.

      • Luna Kazemaru

Yes because Europe getting things before us or bigger and better things with their games its so bad /sarcasm Can’t tell if trolling or an idiot.

  • rinalicat

That reminds me, I still need to buy One Piece: Unlimited Cruise Part 1; someone got me part 2 as a present and I’m as confused as Hell as to what’s going on…

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Thomas-Høivik/1282711040 Thomas Høivik

on feb 10th ulimited cruise part 1 + marineford arc named Unlimited Cruise SP will release on the 3DS in europe..so if u live in europe get it, its worth it :)

  • Testsubject909

“Namco Bandai made Wii three games with Luffy for Japan and Europe”
I think you mean Namco Bandai made three Wii games.

But anyways. It makes you wonder how long it’ll take until that game comes out. At least get some more info on Big Mama first and her crew before doing anything and probably start up the next arc as well to at least get a slightly bigger roster… Then again, the story of the last Cruise game was rather unrelated to the story.

  • http://twitter.com/Eclipse_9 Eclipse

    I hope they do

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Nicolai-Grude/1117146030 Nicolai Grude

People underestimate just how big anime is in Europe. For example, Level-5 and Nintendo of Europe fixed Inazuma Eleven for DS and they’ve already announced Inazuma Eleven 2, just because it has a huge fanbase in Spain.

    • 27CansOfTuna

Yet blu-ray releases of perceived popular anime series get cancelled in Europe.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Thomas-Høivik/1282711040 Thomas Høivik

thats simple.. ppl don’t really care much for those, anime games are more wanted than dvd/BR copies of animes, everyone stream their anime series..and  ppl normally don’t go buy a dvd copy when u have allready seen it online, some ppl does tought, but only big fans or collectors, and u can also illegaly download Blu-ray rips of whole animes available the day after japanese airing of the episode… so i can understand why blu-rays get canceled..no one wants them…

        • 27CansOfTuna

If only Bandai wouldnt hoard all their Blu-Rays in JPN at high cost…have you seen the Sacred Seven Blu-Ray prices??! and just for two episodes on a disc!

I think releases wouldnt be cancelled or people would buy them more, if the anime and such released closer to JPNs release dates.

  • http://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=2704923 Buntar0

I don’t care that much for the system (except that I would prefer a console version), but I hope Ganbarion is developing it.
