Daxter And Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror Coming To A Sony Tablet Near You

By Spencer . January 22, 2012 . 4:41am

Daxter And Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror Coming To A Sony Tablet Near You Sony appears to be expanding the selection of PlayStation Suite titles beyond PsOne classics. The ESRB rated Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, Pinball Heroes (eight different tables including Uncharted), and Daxter - three PSP games – for PlayStation Certified Devices. Fl0w, a PlayStation Network game which was released for PS3 and later ported to PSP, is also rated as a PlayStation Certified title, but it’s unclear which version Sony will release.

Pinball Heroes was demoed on a Sony Tablet S, so these games should be at least compatible with that, if not the Xperia Play and Xperia Arc too.

I’m all for tablet/smartphone games, but I’d rather have companies make games specifically for these platforms, instead of clumsily trying to port existing console titles with an entirely different control scheme.

I don’t see how tablets are going to “kill” handhelds when their biggest games are ports of older games or games that have the quality of flash games (angry birds). The biggest games that arent’ ports or flash quality games are usually copies of console games like Shadow gun (gears of war lite) and most gameloft games

I agree with what most everyone has said already, but on the point of tablets vs. handhelds…I love handhelds. I grew up on the GBC, GBA, DS, and finally the PSP. And I’m getting a Vita on launch day. I think handhelds will always have a market, simply due to the fact that touchscreens cannot replace physical controls and analog sticks. However, the biggest appeal behind tablet games is quick, cheap entertainment. You’re never going to get the depth of even a PSP game in most any tablet game. There’s a reason for that: people are busy these days. They simply don’t have time. So that’s the whole tablets/handhelds spiel from me. Anyway, PSVita ftw. Peace.

in reality, people only “act” like they are busy these days. we talk about how people play cheap shallow games on their smartphones and tablets and how they say they have no need for anything more than that, but the fact is, they are playing these simple games or checking Facebook or Tweeting or checking their email, etc… for hours at a time. they fill in hours of the day doing nothing more than messing around online or with games. it is all very weird when you think about it. they can be hanging out with their friends and still be checking their facebook pages on their phones.
