The NeverDead Digital Art Exhibition

By Spencer . January 24, 2012 . 2:03pm

Before working with Konami, Toshiaki Takayama created artwork for a bunch of arcade games. He worked on Haunted Mansion (a Taito developed light gun game), Eternal Wheel, and Sega’s popular Romance of the Kingdoms card game Sangokushi Taisen. He also made monsters for Lord of Vermillion. Takayama’s latest work is drawing immortal demon hunter Bryce Boltzmann for NeverDead.

Takayama also created artwork depicting Bryce during his younger days. He was a knightly demon hunter until he was cursed with immortality.

I know we’re supposed to take NeverDead more seriously, but it’s kind of hard to when we get screenshots of Bryce playing basketball with his head! NeverDead comes out in North America on January 31.

Holy doo-doo Bryce has a target on his shirt and is stabbing his sword THROUGH HIS OWN FOOT. The more I see of this guy the more I’m loving this crazy son of a gun.

Yea, I really want this game now. The 2nd pic to the right is fudging incredible. That’s like… wallpaper-worthy. If your game has good art design, you’ve already won my interest.

This game’s not really the kind of game I normally play… but this artwork is really intriguing. I just might…

    He’s stabbing his own foot–

Why would you do that, Bryce. Doesn’t that hurt?

      It’s called a botch, he must’ve rolled a 1.

Not that it matters, he automatically saves against all attacks. Comes with being immortal.

VERY nice! Especially like the classic adventure poster with the diva in the middle and all the others surrounding her. Reminds me of that one artist who did all the Star Trek, Indiana Jones and Star Wars movie posters back in the day.

Weird how artwork often makes a game more enticing than gameplay does

  • Gatchaman1

I like how he starts off as a typical JRPG hero and over time morphs into a typical WRPG hero  :P

Also I wonder what they are discussing here….who gets to sleep with the pedobear?
