What You’ll Be Playing On Wii Until Xenoblade Comes Out

By Spencer . January 25, 2012 . 2:03pm

Between now and April 2, Nintendo has two Wii games on their release schedule. Rhythm Heaven Fever brings soccer ball kicking love stories and samurai demon slashing to the system on February 13. In North America, Rhythm Heaven Fever’s 50 mini-games will cost $29.99.

On March 11, Mario Party 9 brings more mini-games to Wii. Taking a cue from Mario Party Advance, Mario Party 9 puts all four players in a car. You’ll fight bosses like King Boo and Bowser as a group too. Mario Party 9 has a hodgepodge of 80 button mashing and Bob-omb avoiding mini-games plus a New Super Mario Bros. style run-and-jump multiplayer mini-game.

I will be playing Xenoblade (for the 4th time) and The Last Story Limited Edition before Xenoblade US comes out. I’m buying it again for support.

  • MagDX

Wow..we are only on Mario Party 9?
Thought we had more than that.

    • James Beatty

Oddly enough they haven’t made a new one since MP 8 which came out a long time ago. MP was nintendo’s most milked franchise (like 1 per year) and they saw that people where losing interest so they started making other games

  • PrinceHeir

    I love Rythme Heaven!!!!!

definitely has my interest and i might buy it Day 1 :P

  • Guest

So, in other words, better wait until Xenoblade comes out.

  • MrRobbyM

I recommend Kirby:Return to Dreamland to anyone who’s still on-fence about it and loved The Crystal Shards. The game is a blast, especially with a friend(and another wii-mote!)

It’s much more like Super Star. But I do agree it’s awesome.

        • Gatchaman1

Yeah I cant show you for obvious reasons but just Google it…

    • z_merquise

Terry Crews! The guy is awesome and hilarious.

  • Sheimi12

I will still be playing monster hunter!

  • KHSoraKeyBlade

Just got Xenoblade today it’s great fun xD

  • James Beatty

What the h$ll happened to rodea the sky soldier? That game looked amazing.

  • ReevesSingleton

I’m really looking forward to Rhythm Heaven Fever. I may be more excited to play it than Xenoblade.

  • aoihana

Well, I’ll certainly be playing these games, but I’ll also try to actually play through Xenoblade longer than 20 minutes(Nothing bad about it, I just stopped, for some reason.).

Thanks to DrakosAmatras, I’ll also be playing Go Vacation. I also just ordered Taiko no Tatsujin Wii: Kettei-Ban! (◕‿◕✿)

Then New Love Plus and Project Mirai in March! (ノ>▽<。)ノ

Please don’t remind of anymore awesome games, I need my monies!

  • shublue9000

wow, thats just pitiful the psp has a more impressive showing and its already dead outside of Japan.

  • Zonic505

Totally getting Rhythm Heaven Fever (really enjoyed the DS game). So glad Nintendo was smart & made it only $30 instead of the normal $50.

  • Gatchaman1

Wii is almost dead, no definite release date for Wii U so NoA needs to pull out all stops and besides Xenoblade release:

    The Last Story
    Pandora’s Tower
    Destruction of Reginliev
    Another Code R
Dragon Quest Monsters Battle Road Victory
    Disaster: Day of Crisis
    Fatal Frame IV
    Captain Rainbow
    Night of Sacrifice

and Earth Seeker (how could I forget!)

    You know…the usual suspects :P

    • puchinri

Even though I want a few of those, I think there are still other titles to be looked at for localization; and some of them, other publishers could be looking at. I’m happy for whatever titles we get though.

      • Gatchaman1

Only upcoming def release in a few months is Mario Party 9 and Dragon Quest X. There will be a Fatal Frame II Remake but other than that, we did not get either Inazuma Eleven Wii games and nothing much else on the horizon. And I could honestly see NoA & S-E pulling a weird move and releasing DQ on Wii U only as a forced launch incentive for N fans in the West to purchase a Wii U at launch.

    • Guest

From that list, at least the first two could see a future release. Regarding stuff like FFIV and Captain Rainbow, forget it, specially the later. Nintendo doesn’t care one bit about those games, neither other publishers.

    • theworldofnoboundries

U forget Earth Seeker there lol.

  • Jirin

Can’t I just play Super Mario Galaxy and Mario Kart Wii?

Those two games alone were worth the cost of the system.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kristóf-Muzsik/100000290116010 Kristóf Muzsik

There are plenty awesome games for the system beside them. Donkey Kong Country Returns, the new Kirby game, and both Zeldas are spectacular, just to name a few. And I’m pretty sure Rhythm Heaven Wii will be awesometastic as well, the first two games were incredible.

      • Jirin

        Ehh…

Donkey Kong Country Returns and the new Kirby fall in the category of “Graphically updated carbon copies of classics that are similar, and fun, but not quite as fun as the original.”  One of the fun things in the original was throwing your team member around to try to reach odd ledges, and changing out the tag team stuff for the Diddy jetpack is just stupid.  They substitute flashy presentation for clever level design.  Kirby does a bit of a better job, but it’s still “Yeah this is a good game, but why would I ever play this when I can play the original instead?”

I also don’t get why new games are obsessed with scattering collectibles throughout the level instead of just making the game about just making it to the end.  In DKC 1-3, your goal the first time was to just get to the end.  Then later if you wanted to keep playing, you chose to go back and try to get 100%.  The collection stuff wasn’t shoved in your face all the time, pressuring you to check every little corner of the map before you moved forward.

Zelda Twilight Princess is pretty good, yes, but they force its very stupid plot and a lot of badly designed mini games on you when the fun part of the game is dungeons.  And I don’t know why they design the tools other than bow and boomerang so they’re all completely useless except in the specific places you need them.  Skyward Sword is next in my GF queue, so we’ll see.

Can’t comment on Rythym Nation. I’m sure it’s a great game, but I mostly play action/adventure and RPGs.

  • http://twitter.com/ScissorsDtoid Scissors

Definitely getting Rhythm Heaven Fever & Xenoblade on release date, Plus Animal Crossing too if it comes out this year. I got plenty of Wii games I still need to buy (just got Trauma Team & Super Paper Mario) so my Wii is going to be very busy this year. Also I hope  Rodea & Earth Seeker get released in North America

    • puchinri

If we get Rodea and Earth Seeker, I will be so bloody excited.

  • Go2hell66

The Last story is out next month :)

  • neo_firenze

For $50, I would have thought about Rhythm Heaven but passed on it.  For $30?  I’ll pick it up without hesitation.

Now, NOA, announce The Last Story for US release? If they don’t do that before the EU release, I’ll be importing.

    • theworldofnoboundries

Be patient, has NOA ever trick us till now???…………… A…..lot……???

  • cj_iwakura

    There’s always Shikigami III.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kristóf-Muzsik/100000290116010 Kristóf Muzsik
