One Player Gets To Steer The Story In Dragon Quest X

Even though its a MMORPG, Square Enix stresses Dragon Quest X is a narrative driven game. So, who gets to control how the story progresses when you’re in a party? The story leader makes decisions for the group and like any good leader you can ask your party for input before advancing the plot.

Dragon Quest X takes place in a world that’s probably too big to walk everywhere. If you need to get around why not try the railroad or use a magic stone to warp you back to a set place. Before using the stone players can set a destination.

Dragon Quest X is slated for release this year on Wii and is also in development for Wii U.

I know they say that you can play, even if it’s an MMO, but with a story.  However, I love RPGs, don’t really like or play MMOs, so I think this is one of those games that really is one of those…”What kind of game am I?” or “Who am I aimed at?” or even possible “Who is my audience?” I think this might be the only dragon quest game that I don’t buy out of principal.  It’s thanks to this game that made me reconsider Dragon Quest IX, in the negative, because I used to like it, but now upon review I find that I didn’t enjoy it as much as I could.  First Final Fantasy has been lost to me and now I’ve lost another one of my beloved series.
