*waiting for people to complain about the DLC cost*

    • theworldofnoboundries

It is soooo expensive!!! SQ sucks!!! Like this lol?

Well i won’t buy the DLC but at least i won’t complain that people should not purchase as it is people free will to purchase or not this DLC.

Much obliged! And now, my day is complete!

How dare they giving me more playtime at only $3. HOW DARE THEY!

Game with character on cover hardly includes character, news at 11.

        • http://twitter.com/followthereader Matt Davidson

Boring comment is boring. The entire game is about the search for Lightning. She’s a major part of the story and the entire reason why Serah sets out in the first place. FFIX had a crystal on the cover, you didn’t spend the whole game dressed as a crystal. The covers are intended to act as teasers, giving a glimpse of the mythology behind the game. You might not spend every minute of the game with Lightning but she’s a vital part of the story and is intrinsically involved in every second of what happens, so please don’t make out like she’s entirely irrelevant.

Once upon a time, I bought a pirated game at a game stall. The title was “Guardian Heroes” and the cover featured a variety of characters from different games. I remember one of those characters to be Zero from MMX4. Imagine my surprise when I went home, boot up my Saturn and discovered no Zero to be found on the character select screen. Even the combine effort of my Action Replay codes and information from Gamefaqs could not create something from nothing.

But at that point, I didn’t care anymore. I love the game and offers my gratitude to whoever printed that fake cover. You helped me discovered one of the best game of the 90s.

          tL;dr
Your post reminded me of a sweet memory. Thanks a lot. My post really has nothing to do with Final Fantasy XIII-2, but for relevance sake, the cover’s pretty sweet too.

They have no reason to bitch about this lol. Just a week ago people were acting like that this was going to cost an arm and leg. I bet they’re feeling pretty stupid right now.

  • Göran Isacson

Lt. Almodar? HE of all people get to play a part in this?

… Well, okay then. I can’t say I was expecting that, but as far as characters who could use some extra screen-time he sure fits the bill. Also, that gun is ridiculously huge. Like, 90′s comics huge. It’s kind of funny.

    • Aoshi00

I guess he kinda fits since he always gets Light’s back.. 240 pts is like $2.40 for me so it isn’t so bad.. I hope Lightning won’t be that hard to recruit like Omega..

  • http://www.facebook.com/iNatsu.Sora Natsu Azure’Sora

WTH, look at Amodar God eater!  O-O

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1769064526 Vivian Mai

God Eater has ruined the concept of ridiculously big swords & guns for me, haha.

Battle Lightning for $3, hm…I wonder how hard/easy the fight will be. If it’s too easy, then it wouldn’t be worth the $3. If it’s too hard, then it’s $3 wasted…

Wouldn’t get this DLC myself, though…

    • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

$3 isn’t even enough to complain about even if it is easy. Thats going beyond being a cheapass. This is coming from a person who uses quidco and any other money saving website.

      • kupomogli

By itself $3 isn’t enough to complain about, but when more and more DLC is added, that $3 may turn into $30.  DLC like this even as “cheap” as it is, is telling the developers that it’s okay to releasing unfinished games.  That you’ll be suckered into buying whatever it takes to complete a game that was probably already done to begin with but held back for DLC.

For example.  NESTS Kyo and Mr Karate.  Clearly completed prior to the release of KoF13, only to be DLC at $5 each.

So please continue letting developers know that we’re stupid enough to purchase whatever DLC that they hold back from the finished game in order to make more money off a premium and already overpriced $60.

        • http://twitter.com/followthereader Matt Davidson

Next, let’s boycott the food companies!!

‘How dare you sell me a sandwich for £2.50?? Are you aware that even if I eat this, I’M JUST GOING TO GET HUNGRY AGAIN?? That £2.50 will very quickly become £250 and perhaps even more!!!! I refuse to eat ANYTHING until someone gives me a sandwich after which I will never need food again.’

The logic is exactly the same.

          • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

            You win sir.

          • SolidusSnake

“The logic is exactly the same. ”

No, it’s not. You need food to live. You don’t need DLC, or video games, for that matter. They are a luxury product.

        • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

Okay, lets get into an argument because of “So please continue letting developers know that we’re stupid enough to purchase whatever DLC ”.

Every developer and publisher spread out DLC for each month. Now let me ask you, how long does it take you or anyone to make $3? a day? a month? a year? My point is that spending $3 is so little to be bothered by.

By the time any developer release their next batch of DLC, you probably forgot that you even spent $3 or whatever the DLC cost. What YOU are doing is accumulating all those DLC during those months of release and make yourself think you spent possibly $30 in one day. Give me a break, this is why people like me get headaches when you or anyone else complain about something so little and easily ignorable. Also game are NOT being held back! DLC are there to add more content to existing games, not there to extort money from you…exception of developer who decide to release more playable character in fighting games later on the year and decide it was ok to release a new revision of an existing game with additional characters for full price.

Anyway, are we done here? I think we are.

        • GGear0323

it doesn’t even work out like that. this kind of DLC is no different then when 3rd person shooting games release new character models to be used in multiplayer only. it doesn’t change the game and for most people it is not something they will look into, but people do enjoy multiplayer skins or new guns that are only cosmetic changes or new costumes or whatever because it makes them feel like they are playing the game differently than other people. if they want to get every downloadable monster that ever comes out and spend over $30, then that is there choice. most people won’t do that. i completely skip DLC like this because i couldn’t care less about this kind of content but i know that a good number of people do care and it is cheap so it doesn’t make a difference to me. i am more looking forward to the story specific DLC they have planned and i just hope to got that they are not packaged together.

but anyway, this obviously wasn’t done well before release. it will be almost 2 months since the game shipped in Japan. if you have DLC ready, you don’t usually want to wait that long. a lot of people would already be done with the game and have moved on.

    • Aoshi00

I beat Omega once but still haven’t managed to recruit it yet (I guess you have to beat it on a high rating).. I assume Lightning would probably be hard as well..  I want Daddy Bear to join my party w/ his MonHun gatling gun :)..  I’d be getting some costume/char DLCs on Live I guess since the MS points cost me less than the precious Jpn PSN yen.. but for the story DLC I would get it on the Jpn ver..

  • http://www.facebook.com/iNatsu.Sora Natsu Azure’Sora

You can recruit her in your party though :P

    • http://twitter.com/VasiliiHellsing Vasilii Hellsing

*fanfare* I hope I can make a leader in party. Sorry, Serah u r nice & cute, but it’s Lightning we r talkin’ bout here.

      • http://www.facebook.com/jazzlyn.lim Jazlynn Lim

Lightning takes the spot of the Monster, if I’m not mistaken…

  • Mr_SP

$3… isn’t too bad. But it seems likely that the DLC will come out for everyone else in late March, unless they speed it up faster than the localisation.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Stephen-Mc-Devitt/100002626261475 Stephen Mc Devitt

Whoah! More enemies jumping during battle? I wonder if we’ll get Sazh, Jihl Nabaat, Yaag Rosch and Cid Raines as well?

    • cj_iwakura

Uh, I wouldn’t hold your breath for Jihl…

    • http://profiles.google.com/zferolie A.J. Ferolie

I also want Fang. She was awesome.

  • http://twitter.com/FaithlessMr Bruno Silva

Gah, I wish we could recruit Amodar as well. Also, not expensive, not at all, I like it.

  • http://profiles.google.com/zferolie A.J. Ferolie

$3, thats it? Wow, that is cheap. Good job SE.

    • kupomogli

For a character they’ve been showing prior to the release of the game.  It’s not cheap because it should have been in the game in the first place.

      • http://profiles.google.com/zferolie A.J. Ferolie

It’s cheap compared to what other companies do(looks at Capcom and Namco)

  • dusk

Praying for Noctis (Final Fantasy XIII Versus) to make a guest appearance in future Coliseum DLC, ala the secret boss of the Kingdom Hearts series where a character from the next as-of-then-unreleased game challenge you to a fight.

    • http://twitter.com/followthereader Matt Davidson

That could be kind of cool, but I doubt it. In KH, the secret boss is someone important to the next game’s story, and who will affect the current game’s characters. In this case Versus XIII is set in a different world so has no real relevance to the Gran Pulse mythos.

And remember, Nomura was going to include Lightning in the original Dissidia but decided against it as XIII hadn’t been released yet and he didn’t want people making assumptions about her playstyle before the game’s release. Can see a similar situation here.

It would be awesome though :D

    • MrRobbyM

I do wish the Coliseum was a bit more that of the Tales series or even Kingdom Hearts. With older characters and what not.

  • HeatPhoenix

So should I be interested in this if I despised the original?

    • MrRobbyM

I haven’t played XIII-2 yet, but from what I’ve heard, yes. Pretty much everything is improved. But if the main reason for your dislike was the melodrama and cringe-worthy script, well then, that’s all still there and probably worse.

      Here’s a decent review http://finalfantasy-xiii.net/2012/01/30/final-fantasy-xiii-2-review.html#more-16294

    • kupomogli

      No.

    • RupanIII

From the reviews I’ve read, the general impression I get is that yeah, it improves things, but it’s still FFXIII underneath. If you thought XIII could’ve been great with a few changes/additions (non-linear dungeons, towns- or at least pseudo-towns, etc.), it seems like you’ll love it. If you thought the whole thing was flawed from the ground up, not so much.

I tried the demo a bit. Didn’t have a chance to play for too long but it still doesn’t feel like FF to me. *shrug* Maybe I could enjoy if I stop thinking of it as FF and measuring it by the classics. That’s hard though, when it’s called ‘FFXIII’ ;P

(btw for teh fans, I’m not hatin’ If you like XIII, awesome)

  • http://openid.anonymity.com/5HuDuQyz Woot

Look at how badass Lt. Amodar is. I wish you could recruit him too, but I guess Lightning will do just fine. Glad it’s not that expensive either.

    • http://twitter.com/followthereader Matt Davidson

Check out my latest comment! According to SE’s EU site you can recruit them both!

  • MrRobbyM

3 bucks? As much as I dislike DLC(or well, the was it’s used by some companies), I’m fine with this.

Just announced – international versions (or Europe at least, I’m guessing US are the same) are getting Lightning and Amodar at the same time!!! 7th for XBox, 8th for PS3.

According to the blog entry, you can recruit Lightning AND Amodar – tasty bonus!!

    Excitement is building . . .

  • http://twitter.com/Oathkeeper_Sora OathkeeperSoraXIII

$3 which is roughly about £1.70 here in the UK is fine. for a 2 part fight against lightning and Lt. amodar this seems perfectly reasonable to me especicially as you get to recruit lightning afterwards. can’t wait

XD I was right. But she’s gonna be treated like a pet…
    Noel: “You deserve a treat”
    Lightning: (Place insult here)

What would she say? I’d go with “Jump off of Cocoon”
Any other thought on that? XD

  • PrinceHeir

yay i just got me CE from Bestbuy today :P

kinda disappointed that the novel has the same size of a game manual, plus it’s thin too.

i was expecting at least much thicker and wider :

    oh well it’s all good.

so it’s already on PSN huh?

might just might get it :P

  • http://radiantloki.blogspot.com/ Mark Dinh

Crap! I need to buy Microsoft points D:! I just picked up my copy of the game today with the Collector’s Edition of the Complete Guide :D!

Cid Raines will be COM role and during Lightnings Scenero and Playing as Lightning through DLC,  Yaag Rosch, Cid Raines and Jihl Nabaat will be Playable through Playing as Lightning in DLC Scenero.

  • Masengan

Back when they said you would fight previous FF characters did they mean from 13? or FF as a whole?
