Hironobu Sakaguchi Gives Us A Tour Of Nintendos Paris StudioThe Last Story comes out in Europe on February 24 and creator/director Hironbu Sakaguchi is hanging out in France with Link. The Mistwalker founder visited Nintendo’s studio in Paris and Sakaguchi took photos of the stuff lying around.

It’s like a mini-museum of Nintendo history with Famicom Basic and R.O.B. behind glass along with Sakaguchi’s earlier works… wait what’s Double Dragon doing there?

Looking forward to his next game
RPG for Wii U or something like that hopefully Xbox or next Xbox and ps3 or ps4 will get his game too

    • XypherCode

The Last Story HD for Wii U :D
      …who am I kidding lol
I hope they have something brand new for all consoles :))

    • Aoshi00

Same here.. always anxious for his next project, he’s the reason I’m still playing RPGs, let the man work on something big, Wii U, Xbox 360/720, PS3/4 I don’t care :)  Of course Uematsu would be always on board.. I like how both veterans are so humble..

    • eilegz

      xenoblade 2 would be awesome

      • http://www.facebook.com/JaeWhy SasuleUchiha

But Xenoblade was developed by Monolith and had nothing to do with Sakaguchi , I believed. Though I’d like to see Xenoblade 2 too.

        • James Beatty

Monolith is rumored to be working on something big for the wii U so Xenoblade 2 HD wouldn’t be out of the question.

  • badmoogle

I thought this was Nintendo Paris studio not Mistwalker’s….

Edit:Oh i see you edited your post Spencer, nevermind then.

  • http://twitter.com/Paradox_me Paradox me

Man, I love Mistwalker. It breaks my heart that their games haven’t found more success. I’m pretty confident that had they gotten their start in any other generation but this one then we would have had a major player on our hands, but now it seems like they’re just getting by.

Oh well, as long as they’re around I suppose. Went ahead and pre-ordered The Last Story because I don’t feel like waiting months to see what Nintendo of America’s real stance on the game is.

Just wanted to say that I agree with your post.  Seeing the display of all those beloved FF games and Chrono Trigger sitting alongside Sakaguchi’s newer games like Lost Odyssey and the Last Story, I just can’t help thinking about the good old days of Squaresoft and about what could have been.  LO and TLS would have been very fitting additions to the family of epic Squaresoft games.  I really hope Sakaguchi/Mistwalker continues to make games and to do it in the way that they’re best applauded for which includes story-telling, endearing characters, and memorable music.

    Pretty impressive sight.

Haha just saw that NES just the other day, part of Oskunk’s gallery >w<' But really cool collection they got there, and it's nice of Sakaguchi to take all those photos owo'' Here's a link if anyone else wants to see Oskunk's other custom consoles! http://custom-art.blogspot.com/

Wait, what is Lost Odyssey (a 360 game) doing in Nintendo’s Paris HQ? :P

    • Gatchaman1

quickly put together Sakaguchi shrine to honor his visit I presume. FF VII and X are there too

      • http://twitter.com/FaithlessMr Bruno Silva

Yeah, I wonder why they put FF VII and X there and not also VIII and IX and other SNES titles like FF V and VI and IV :3

It was nice of them lol

        • pink-devotion

I think that’s FFVI there behind Chrono Trigger, actually.  As for why other games weren’t present, I think they were just showcasing some of the games he has worked on from the earlieast parts of his carreer until now.  I don’t think their intention was to show every game he has ever developed.

          • Joanna

Yup that’s definitely FFVI behind CT. :3

it’s quite suprise there even FF 7 and 10 or Lost Odyssey in Nintendo Paris office

Can Sakaguchi and Miyamoto do a game together?  It would only be the most epic thing to ever happen to my life.

    • http://twitter.com/Paradox_me Paradox me

It would be interesting to say the least. Their approach to game design seems quite different. Miyamoto did supervise Super Mario RPG though, so I think it would go well.

    • http://www.siliconera.com Ishaan

Doubtful. Miyamoto doesn’t work with external developers as much.

Sakaguchi has already worked with Nintendo’s SPD department, though. That’s the development group that Iwata oversees, and the one that does all the external collaborations like Metroid Prime, DKCR, Punch-out, Xenoblade, S&P2 etc.

  • http://twitter.com/Xuiz enorka miho

Actually I hope Skaguchi will work with Nomura again though… :(

Lost Odyssey……..maybe its a hint that the wii-u might get it next XD Not!! that’s pretty awesome

  • alphajammer

That looks like the SEGA Master System box art for Double Dragon!  Why is that at Nintendo HQ?

  • http://twitter.com/salarta salarta

… What’s Nintendo doing with Lost Odyssey in there? It just seems weird that a company would have a game not associated with them there.

I would’ve played Lost Odyssey if it was on PS3, Wii or even PC, though knowing Nintendo of America, that game porting to any Nintendo console would mean we never get it in the States. NoA seems to hate great games that have more than a simplistic story.

I preordered The Last Story limited edition a couple weeks ago from HMV; Amazon UK wasn’t willing to let me import the game. I’m looking forward to it. I’d rather buy it from NoA, but if they don’t want to make any money, I guess that’s their decision.

On the plus side, I’ll be able to import Pandora’s Tower and play that too once I break the region lock on my Wii.

    • pink-devotion

Well, they also have the playstation FF games in the display and those have nothing to do with Nintendo.  I could be completely wrong but it looks like the display might have something more to do with the games being Sakaguchi games and not just the fact that they’re for the Nintendo.

Still waiting to play TLS but Lost Odyssey is, by far, my favorite JRPG so far this gen.  If you get an opportunity to get your hands on a 360, give the game a shot.  For me personally, it’s comparable to some of the classics from the era when there were so many great JRPGs because it’s been the only game to evoke those feelings I used to get.

      • http://twitter.com/shomangaka mangakagirl

specially now that 360s are ridiculously cheap to buy (like in pawn shops)

    • http://www.facebook.com/valiusPIU Kevin Tan

Let’s support NoA’s release of Xenoblade!  I am really tempted to import the NoE version of Last Story, having enjoyed the original JP version, but NoA’s recent announcements (Xenoblade and Spirit Camera) have me reconsidering… or I could triple dip (having JP, EU, and NA versions).  The game is worth triple dipping for…

  • http://nocturneadagio.blogspot.com/ LainaLain

Still no word on The Last Story coming to the US huh?

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Farid-Belkacemi/1073052585 Farid Belkacemi

Just buy Xenoblade for now ;)

  • PrinceHeir

love the display of sakaguichi’s game :P

definitely can’t wait for his next game(hopefully on PS3 or the next playstation too)

i just hope he still can make games in the next generation!

  • LabrynianRebel

I hope Sakaguchi makes a game for the Wii U, and that Last Story gets released stateside!

  • Solomon_Kano

I like that the Sakaguchi case even has Lost Odyssey in it lol.

Y’know, thinking about how Mistwalker keeps jumping consoles, I hope their next project is multiplat or, if not, Wii U or PS3. I’d do backflips all over my house if the greatest Playstation RPG-maker ever returned to doing titles for Sony systems — exclusive or otherwise.

Having a new Sakaguchi game on my PS3 would be incredible. Not just because his games are awesome, but because Sakaguchi and the PS brand are where I started playing RPGs. So I guess I’d like to see it come full circle. I’d love that but, really, I’ll play his games regardless of what system they’re made for.

  • theworldofnoboundries
