Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within Conceptual Designer Is Making A Video Game

Feric Fang, conceptual designer on Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, spent his early years drafting artwork for a movie based on a video game series. With a motion picture in his resume, Feng is now planning a video game about a clumsy egg-shaped robot.

 

Meet Roda.

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within Conceptual Designer Is Making A Video Game

After a mysterious blackout, Roda leaves his house for the very first time. On a mission to restore electricity on the island, he stumbles through Happical Zoo, where he meets a strange mix of robotic animals and uncovers an astounding secret about himself…

 

Roda could be the star of a platform-puzzle game for iOS devices if Feng can raise $10,000 by Valentine’s Day. Right now Roda is a Kickstarter project looking for backers. This video gives us an idea of what the gameplay will be like if Feng finds enough supporters.

    All the artwork looks really awesome. It’s got a dream-like, children’s story feel to it. Transparencies are used well.

    The Spirits Within has a real bad rep but the movie wasn’t THAT bad.

    I don’t own an iOS device, yet I could end up supporting this game. The artworks in that Kickstarter page are really a sight to behold.

    So sad to see this project underperforming so badly :( I hope Roda and his gang are able to make it in an actual game somehow.
