Hatsune Miku Project Mirai Uses Streetpass For Video Comments

By Spencer . February 7, 2012 . 7:05pm

Hatsune Miku Project Mirai Uses Streetpass For Video CommentsOne of Nico Nico’s most popular features are comments that fly by as a video is playing. Hatsune Miku and Future Friends Project Mirai has streaming comments when you watch videos in Theater Mode too which you can pick up from other players through Streetpass.

Famitsu also confirmed three more songs for the 3DS game. "Deep Sea Girl" with its original video in 3D, "On the Rocks" with Kaito and Meiko duet, and "Hello / How Are You" are in Hatsune Miku and Future Friends Project Mirai.

Hatsune Miku and Future Friends Project Mirai comes out in Japan on March 8.

To tell you the truth, that’s one thing I like about Nico Nico Douga. Seeing comments roling by on each video. The other being able to change your username.

But that’s quite a neat feature for Project Mirai to have. I do like to see the next Project Diva to use this feature in a different way (if it does happen). But I think it’s quite likely. Who knows?

That’s pretty awesome, but I’m a little confused as to how this feature would work. Or rather, I’m a little confused by Spotpass itself. I’m not exactly sure how it works, honestly.  ┐(‘~`;)┌

Do, I comment on a PV, and whenever I pass by someone with a 3DS, and a copy of Project Mirai, of course, they receive my comment? (✿`_´)ゞ

Or do I comment on a PV, it gets uploaded to a server, and whenever someone passes by a wi-fi spot, they receive my comment? (✿`_´)ゞ

If it’s the first, that’s a shame because outside of Japan, I wouldn’t be able to enjoy such an awesome feature. (´∩`。)

I’ve been wondering that myself kinda. I don’t even know how Street Pass will work with it. I hope to see more details on how they work exactly. It would be helpfull.

It seems to work in theater mode, which I assume is the mode where you just watch videos as opposed to playing, so you’d be able to make comments on the bottom screen during the video. It then probably timestamps the comments and makes it possible to share it with others you pass through, so they get the comments whenever they watch the video again. Seeing as this is street pass, it’s unlikely that you’ll have the function work outside of Japan unless you’re in a tight-nit community of people who have the game.

    Wait a minute….
Why am I still checking news for this game? I thought I had already accepted the fact that I’ll never be able to play it…..
*curses the world and region-locking* *forcefully vomits* *calms down*
THERE WE GO. All my obnoxious insanity aside, that actually sounds like a pretty cool feature. Though I don’t really understand the whole reason why people seem to like so much the scrolling comments feature of NND (honestly, it gets annoying getting my video covered with www’s all the time) but I guess it’s a fun community-driven feature, so it’ll probably depend on the people who use it.

haha, glad to see I’m not the only one who doesn’t like the scrolling text feature on nico nico. If I want to see comments, I’ll look at the comment section. I don’t see the appeal of random comments clogging up what I can see.
