Sleeping Dogs From Square Enix Coming In August, Is This True Crime: Hong Kong?

Square Enix stealth announced Sleeping Dogs at Destination PlayStation. This upcoming game is slated for release on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in August, according to a tweet by Future Shop.

Details about the game have not been revealed, but the dragon tattoo and pictures in the background kind of look like True Crime: Hong Kong, an unpublished game Square Enix purchased from Activision last year. Since Square Enix did not purchase the True Crime brand they will have to give the title another name. Perhaps, Sleeping Dogs?

Curious about True Crime: Hong Kong Sleeping Dogs? Siliconera procured a few pages from the game’s script.

I mean if Activision didn’t want to publish it there must be something wrong with it. I mean they set there bar very low.

there wasnt anything wrong with the game. it was one of the properties that got sold/cancelled when they decided to focus more on “online games that have a higher margin” ie more CoD and WoW if i remember correctly

      • landlock

Maybe but they still released things like X-Men Destiny, Cabela’s Survival, Spiderman: Edge Of Time things like that which were all dreadful and flopped accordingly. So I betting Sleeping Dogs is even worse. . .

I doubt any of the Spider-Man titles “flopped”. There’s a reason Activision continue to make those games, and it’s because they sell because of the strong brand.

Well don’t know about America but in the UK it only managed about 30 something in the sales chart on it’s release week before disappearing completely. Very poor.

    Yes! Please!
I have never played a True Crime game, but the footage I’ve seen from this one looks very interesting. And the Hong Kong setting makes it even more interesting!

By the cover art, looks like they’re trying to go for a “this is a game of the same type as Grand Theft Auto or Saints Row!” No idea how accurate that is.

The gameplay to True Crime Hong Kong is very interesting looking, so definitely something I’ll be picking up early, if not day one.
