The Legend Of Heroes: Trails Of Zero Evolution Adds More Than Voice Acting

By Spencer . February 7, 2012 . 12:35am

The Legend Of Heroes: Trails Of Zero Evolution Adds More Than Voice Acting Falcom and Kadokawa Games are bringing The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Zero to PlayStation Vita. First announced as The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Zero Full Voice Version, Dengeki PlayStation unveiled the title this week under a new name, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Zero Evolution.

Pyramid, makers of the Patapon games, is giving the entire game an overhaul. Trails of Zero Evolution will have HD graphics, animated character busts, trophies, mini-games, and full voice acting for event scenes. Lloyd’s script alone is 1200 pages and over 150 different characters have speaking roles. In an interview the producer from CharaAni estimates it will take between one to two months to record the new dialogue.

Darts, a watch game (where you touch the hands), and an action puzzler mini-game utilize Vita’s touchscreen and gyroscopic sensor. The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Zero Evolution also has a new subquest with Oscar and Bennett. While Falcom isn’t developing this game, they drafted the extra scenario. Kadokawa Games will release The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Zero Evolution in Japan this summer.

Oh my god! This is amazing! So much hope of this getting localised but… gonna take quite a while. I’ll keep my hopes, nevertheless.
Sora no Kiseki SC and the 3rd are first and those alone are going to take quite a while.

I just finished Trails in the Sky yesterday and I freaking loved it! First The Legend of Heroes I played and it was instant love. Damn freaking awsome series!

And it’s just the beggining…the rest is even better in everything.

    • caleb1993

Cool, I’m still trying to get a hold of a brand new copy of the game…stupid EB Games website gave me false hope…and then I ended up with P3P instead…

      • Shinji Kazuya

I got mine from http://www.videogamesplus.ca/ about 1 month ago.
They still have it in stock.

      • tesuji2

Why don’t you just get it from amazon? Or from the Xseed shop for that matter.

  • http://twitter.com/SilverCitizen Silver Citizen

I say XSEED should just pass up SC and Third and release this instead.
Though they’d take a long time releasing this too. .__.

    • Ladius

Bad idea on so many levels:

-they will leave the original trilogy unconcluded
-they will throw away all the translation work they have done for Trails 2 so far
-Zero and Ao no Kiseki need the events of Trails 2-3 to be fully enjoyed; 3 in particular sets the stage for many of the themes of the Crossbell arc
-Zero’s script is bigger than Trails 2′s, and would likely require years to be localized

    THIS..IS…AMAZING!!

Truly a game worth of trowing my money.

  • Novac

I think it’s pointless to hope for Sc and Third. The West is just way too  far behind japan atm.I even read an article on Andriasang that says falcom is already planning a sequel to Nayuta Kiseki.

I think it would be best just to give up on these titles, so when they never make it out of japan no one is surprised or angry that they didn’t get that new title.

    • icecoffemix

Or start learning the moon, this series alone worth it for me.

I think that xseed will localized SC in the future… but I’m not sure about the third one… I hope I’m wrong though, because even though the third game have different character from the previous one it’s still a continuation and a sequel. Not to mention that I really love the main couple for the  third game… ahhh I pray that the third will get localized…!

    C’mon XSEED… please… please… :(

    • Ladius

It’s not a matter of convincing them, it’s simply that the first one didn’t selle enough to make the sequel their first priority, that Trails 2′s script is gigantic in size (some six times FF12′s, two times Trails 1′s) and would likely require more than one year to be translated, not to mention the issues around its distribution (Trails 2 PSP is a 2-UMD game that lacks a PSN version, Falcom hasn’t personnel to spare for localizing the PC release and so on).

It isn’t their fault, and they are still translating it, but the odds are sadly all against them, and I say this with Trails 2 being the game I am most hyped for (with Growlanser Wayfarer of Time as a close rival).

  • 27CansOfTuna

I hope characters arent overcast for the speaking roles, 150 is alot, isnt that Skyrim, AAA WRPG, level even?

    • http://twitter.com/Cudgeon Raji

No, skyrim had about 70 VAs.

As if AAA WRPG level is high..

    • Ladius

It’s a lot more, and yeah, it’s rather incredible they’re doing this for a PSVita port of a PSP game that sold in the 150k-200k range. Goes to show Falcom’s love for quality, though.

      • caleb1993

At least they do hold a high level of quality. There are some companies that really need to take inspiration from that.

        • Ladius

Yeah, it’s astonishing how they have been able to keep the Kiseki series’ quality so high despite adopting a rather speedy release schedule. Just shows how a little team with a clear vision and focused writers can be miles above gigantic teams who aren’t able to grasp the big picture till the last crunch time.

    ARGHHHHRAAAAHHHH!!!!
im literally losing it!?!? Xseed’s SC is nowhere in sight neither is the 3rd Chapter, and now falcom is already importing zero to VITA!  c’mon xseed im beggin’ ya. bring the rest of the trails here! OTZ||||
i am genuinely HAPPY that the trails series is already crossing the HD boarders, sad that most people don’t see trails as a potentially solid RPG.. is this truly the end for 2d in the west?

    • http://www.facebook.com/juan.m.m.s.mdp Juan Manuel M. Suárez

More than being asked to, Xseed needs the resources to do such jobs. So unless all the fans with a vast knowledge of Japanese want to offer their translating services ad honorem I’m pretty sure Xseed has their hands tied~.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jan-Daryll-Palanca/100000250304791 Jan Daryll Palanca

yeah i heard the story since the day i picked up the first game.
i just can’t help myself! i express things with or without thought when news like this just pops out of nowhere…

  • Raiu

Well ain’t that just nice, not only will this make Xseed’s job tougher and longer, this will also make Xseed nervous whether to localize this or not…

    • Ladius

Before even considering localizing this they would have to translate Trails 2 and 3, and those are extremely difficult challenges as of now.

That said, I don’t think an eventual localized version of Zero no Kiseki would need to be voiced at all: Growlanser Wayfarer of Time had its incredibly long dubtrack as one of its standpoint, but Atlus USA decided to translate it without any kind of dub simply because any other option would have made the costs skyrocket for a game that will probably sell in the 10-20k range. I imagine ZnK would be in the same situation..

  • MrRobbyM

Japanese language classes, here I come.

  • jujubee88

I will just be glad to hear the OST for this game, although a localization would be awesome. :)

  • Stolichnaya

i dream of the day this gets localised

    • PoweredByHentai

This and the rest of Sora no Kiseki on PSP and/or PSVita.

  • chicken_and_rofls

So out of curiosity, how upset would people be if XSeed cut some of the dialogue in SC and Third in order to get the games out before hell freezes over?  It seems like there’s nothing else to do at this point.  Even if they get Sc done in its entirety, the series is so far behind I really don’t see it succeeding in the West unless 3rd gets a remake for 3DS or Vita.

Personally, I wouldn’t be too bothered if they trimmed out some of the non-essential NPC chatter.  I mean, the game will be just as good if the random townsfolk say only one or two things, rather than each one getting paragraphs of new dialogue after every story event.  It’d suck to have the game trimmed down, but it’d be better than nothing… which seems to be where we’re headed.

    • tesuji2

no, it wouldnt be better than nothing. ill pass on an incomplete translation.

      • chicken_and_rofls

Well, that makes absolutely no sense.  It’s not like these games are going to get localized by some other company (I’ll believe that phone port of the first one when I see it).  How is it better to receive nothing than to receive at least a partial translation?

        • http://www.facebook.com/juan.m.m.s.mdp Juan Manuel M. Suárez

Because nobody gives a flying **** about a partial translation. We want the whole game, not the core of it because the rest had to be surgically removed. How’d you feel if they port a fighting game with less characters to adjust costs? How about if Bioware games get cut on sidestory zones? The idea is absurd and the epitome of half-assed / cheap~.

    • http://www.facebook.com/juan.m.m.s.mdp Juan Manuel M. Suárez

Terrible idea is terrible, fortunately XSeed has high standards and would never even contemplate such a cheap idea~.

      • chicken_and_rofls

        So nothing > something?  Hmm…

  • Ladius

I think the 1200-pages script for Lloyd’s dialogues is the best way to understand why this series is as tough as it is to localize, and why we should love XSeed for even attempting such a daunting task. I don’t know if we will be able to play Trails 2 and its sequels, but I will definitely support them any way I can on PSP, PSVita or PC :)

  • dahuuuundge

    This well never get translated.

  • MagDX

    Yeaaaaaa…Im so getting this :)

  • AokiShizuku

-Drooling at the mouth.- Oh god….DO WANT DO WANT DO WANT. My wallet is almost dying but I don’t care! I’ll drain it dry to buy this masterpiece.

  • PrinceHeir

    my god O___O
