Ciel No Surge Has Online Play (Plus Watch Ions Hair Grow)As mentioned earlier, Gust’s PlayStation Vita game Ciel no Surge takes place in real time. This communication game has players interact with Ion, a mysterious girl who lost her memory. Depending on when you turn on your system you may see Ion eating a meal or sleeping.

 

Ion’s hair grows as time passes and she gets more talkative too. Players can also change Ion’s clothes and customize her look.

 

One interesting note is Famitsu mentions Ciel no Surge supports online play, but details on how Gust’s game uses it have not been revealed.

    That’s a rather nice feature for the players. No doubt it’ll have some bearing on how the game plays out. This is shaping up to be a rather interesting title for the Vita.

    if we play this for years, it will be amazing if Ion grows older too even if this sounds so ridiculous XD

      Learn Japanese.  You’d be amazed at how much stuff gets lost in translation or put on the chopping block when localized.

      There’s a rather complex plot behind the game: a world with a dying sun, two factions competing for humanity’s survival (one plans to bring humans to a new worls, the other tries to save the current one) and… Ion is the current president XD

      So no, I don’t think this is a dating sim, especially since you as the player have no direct involvement in the story, and your interface for everything is Ion herself.

        Nah… raising flags is for galge/dating sim but this is not.. I don’t expect it as heavy as that wife sim for 360 a few years back… and what does Ion, the president, have anything to do with the two factions despite she lost her memories…

      I mean, this game sounds nice and all, but this type of gameplay might end up being a hassle for me, what with it being real-time for probably three years and being online.etc :s
      A JRPG would’ve been easier to handle I think, but that’s just me.

      I’ll probably still buy it and play it though. I just love GUST too much :)

        Something tells me this series could tie into a JRPG. Gust pretty much just started working on the Vita and creating a JRPG on the device from the get go could have lead to a longer development time. 

        With CNS, they could get something in, year one and it would not just be a port.

        It appears to be more than just a VN anyway, what with all the online connected and adventure/fantasy/sci-fi influenced features. 

        But, we all are looking forward to a really good VITA JRPG from Gust.

    Its plot is jrpg-like enough, probably the future entries in the Surge series will be jrpgs though.

    This game really has character in it. Her hair grows as time passes and grows more talkative.
    That’s something I actually do like. I want to get regardless of it not being localized.

      Yeah, I sorta agree. But, I will likely get this game because it is UNDENIABLY a Japanese game and I would like to show it off to people on my VITA. It is a great conversation starter … or not. (Either way, I would have fun with an english version).

    So there’s real-time elements? Oh god, I hope it doesn’t work like Animal Crossing or whatever, where if you stop visiting  she gets really sad. I felt horrible when Nintendogs began to wear off, I don’t even want to imagine what it’d be like with a virtual person.

    Looks like this game is going to be a moe version of a tamagotchi, as long as it doesn´t force you to play every single day because she could hate you or get sick and die, I don´t mind
