Magic: The Gathering Duels Of The Planeswalkers 2013 Is In DevelopmentA leak from Korea’s Game Rating Board confirms Wizards of the Coast is working on a sequel to Magic: The Gathering – Duels Of The Planeswalkers 2012. Siliconera dug up a rating for Magic: The Gathering – Duels Of The Planeswalkers 2013 filed by Microsoft Korea.

While the rating was filed by Microsoft, it doesn’t necessarily mean Magic: The Gathering – Duels Of The Planeswalkers 2013 will be an Xbox 360 exclusive. Last year’s land tapping, card battling game was released for PlayStation Network and Steam simultaneously.

Can’t say I’m remotely surprised by this. While I’d prefer more expansion packs with modern cards, this isn’t really outside the norm for video card games. (Does Yu-Gi-Oh still release a DS title every year?)

Will probably end up grabbing this on Steam. If nothing else, for Innistrad block cards. :D Yay Werewolf decks! ^^

I was hoping more for an “expansion” rather than a “new” game, however i have to admit that it is fun and its an alternative to enjoy Magic instead of buying real cards and get poor in the process :(

Why can’t they just develop expansion packs? It’s not like the interface and the game will be any different every year. Is it really that hard update the game’s card list? I mean, there’s this free program where you can playtest card and still update it when a new expansion is around…

To be honest, I wouldn’t mind a new interface. Reason being, the existing one (for PC at least) is as buggy as can be. I have several friends I play with, and we are frequently frustrated by some pretty major problems with how the game operates. It often turns what should be simple games into nightmares, sometimes leading to AI issues where they never resolve their turn.

Short of that, though, I do not like the idea of restarting from scratch every year. If it were just the main game (and decks), then it wouldn’t be as big of a deal since decks are added and changed, but when you have a bunch of expansions, I’m doubting that those will carry over…maybe I’ll be surprised by what they work out.

Really? Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013? It’s like Wizards releases a new Core Set every year or something!
