Ever since the Nintendo DS, Nintendo has been expanding in South Korea with Korean language DS and Wii games. Some of Nintendo of Korea’s recent efforts include hiring Girls Generation to promote the DSi and localizing The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword so it would be released in Korean the same time the Wii title made its debut in other regions.
While we haven’t heard of a concrete release date for the Nintendo 3DS in Korea, Nintendo of Korea is quietly working on a local hardware launch. The news comes from a leak on Korea’s Game Rating Board, which rated Star Fox 64 3D. Nintendo wouldn’t localize a 3DS game without releasing the system, right? Of course not. Since a game is ready to go, a 3DS launch for Korea can’t be far behind.
