imageAtlus now owns the rights and will be publishing Vanillware’s side-scrolling action RPG, Dragon’s Crown. The game is slated for release on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita in 2013.

When it was first announced, Dragon’s Crown was a project from UTV Ignition’s Japan branch, with El Shaddai production head Kashow Oda as Dragon’s Crown’s producer. In an earlier interview with Siliconera, Oda said the game would have a corpse collecting system where you can reanimate other player’s fallen characters and add them to your game.

“While we are saddened to no longer be associated with the Dragon’s Crown project, we are very confident that the title is in excellent hands with Atlus,” stated Lokesh Dhar, senior vice president of UTV Ignition Entertainment. “Since the initial announcement, information on timing and features in the game have changed and other details regarding design and functionality are yet to be determined. We are confident that Atlus and Vanillaware will deliver the finest game possible.”
