The King Of Fighters-i 2012 Adds Wi-Fi Battles, Ups The Roster To 32 Characters

By Spencer . May 1, 2012 . 11:55pm

The King of Fighters-i 2012 is close to having The King of Fighters XIII on the go. SNK Playmore added characters like Athena Asamiya, Leona Heidern, and Robert Garcia to the 32 fighter roster. NEST Style Kyo and Iori with the Power of Flames are also available as downloadable content.

The big addition is Wi-Fi play, which allows players to fight in ranked battles online or challenge a friend in Friend Versus mode. The King of Fighters-i 2012 also has a training mode to teach players how to use the virtual arcade stick and artwork, like rough sketches and illustrations, for fans to unlock.

The King of Fighters-i 2012 is available now for iPhone (3GS or higher), iPod Touch (3rd generation or higher), and iPad.

  • This is crazy. It’s insane (and admirable) that they’re willing to invest to much work in this, when fighting game controls work so terribly on a touch screen. Especially since KoF seems to be really strict with command moves and cancels. GAH, AND SNK GOD-BOSSES.

This is insane, but it sounds like some real high quality stuff for a iOS game.

dark ash and god saiki are NOT god-bosses, RUGAL that is THE god boss bar none, DA and GS are really terrible enemies in comparison even in max difficulty, and talking about stuff why does snk do this instead of fixing the online of KOF13 ps3/360 is not that is bad per se, its just that: A) is barebones and could use lobbies for more than 2 players; and B) maybe they could improve the little lag issues that come every now and then

      • Well, KoF isn’t exactly a very popular fighting game when compared to something like SF or Tekken. Maybe they’re trying to spread their wings a bit by releasing KoF Lite on iOS, to attract a larger crowd to the home consoles?

Also, DA and GS aren’t as bad as Rugal, but they still have god-boss qualities. All in all, SNK bosses are just SNK bosses. No other way to describe them, other than experiencing their face-fisting pain.

DA and GS must be the most easy boss battles from a KOF game besides ”maybe” orochi from 97 or goenitz 96, at least DA with pressure felts quickly, but if you let him to zone you are done

GS is a bit harder but I had seen way worse from SNK

nice update, too broke right now though :(

Considering the boom of fighting games on 3DS and Vita, I hope SNK is able to make a KoF13 port for an handeld platform with button support. As much as I love the level of polish this KoF-i seems to have I can’t even think about playing a strict beat’em up like KoF13 on a touch screen, especially having already enjoyed the console version.

Argh, this (and Street Fighter Volt) would have been insta-buys for me if only they had made them Universal for the iPad. Maybe I’ll wait and see if I develop giant hands or something.

KoF needs to be on the Vita, ASAP.
