Konami’s Second Credit Card – The Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side Visa

By Spencer . May 5, 2012 . 3:00pm

imageWe’ll let that sink on for a second because Konami has two video game themed credit cards in Japan. We talked about the LovePlus Visa before. Now, there’s a Tokimeki Girl’s Side Visa aimed at fans of Konami’s popular otome series.

When you sign up you will get a Girl’s Side Membership IC card. Each card has a serial number, but it isn’t clear what you get for being a member since Konami says they will announce plans at a later date.

For each 1,000 yen ($12.50) you spend with the card you get 1 point. 200 points (or a 200,000 yen / US$2,500 balance) nets Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side super fans three sheets of stickers. If you earn 800 points (a 800,000 yen / US$10,000 balance) Konami will send you a limited edition print of Hazuki from the Tokimeki Memorial Girls Side Visual Collection cover.

It’s a beautiful card, but the rewards system is a bit steep.

So, if I understand correctly, I have to spend 200,000円 to accumulate enough points for a few sticker sheets? (;¬_¬)

I mean, it’s not much money when you think about it, especially in Japan and the target market, but I figured you’d get something a bit more premium for 200,000円. ┐(‘~`;)┌

The 800,000円 reward is actually real nice, though! (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

Well, like I said, it’s not much at the end of the day, but I still can’t help but feel the rewards should be a bit more premium, like a package or something!

A limited Hazuki print, sticker sheets, and drama CD for the 800,000円 reward, for example, would be awesome! ლ(´ڡ`ლ)

This reminds me, I must get my hands on that Love Plus Visa! (*≧m≦*)

The card is so cute~ I would totally want to get it but the rewards system is a bit…x.x expensive. Though I wouldn’t mind just having the card to look at :3

$2,500 for sticker sheets and even more for a Hazuki print?
…Okay, the Hazuki print would be worth it, it just isn’t big enough.
    And, it’s not Himuro, or Hikami, who I prefer. ; n ;
    They should lower the points…

  • Ehhh, but I’m not a Hazuki fan at all. I was always more of a Madoka kind of guy. It’s not worth it all anyhow.

N-not that I really liked Tokimeki or anything. I just played it because it was funny, okay? :I

I can see right through you…!
Everyone plays because of the skinshipping.

I can see right through you…!
Everyone plays because of the skinshipping.

      • Actually, skinshipping was the only thing I hated about the series. It was just so awkward, and didn’t make a lot of sense to me. You’d be talking to this guy about rollarcoasters – then you rub his nose? Even he asks what’s wrong with you.

But they’re all interesting personalities though. Sorta. S..some of them, anyway.

        • rebecasunao

Yeah, I found the skinship really weird too… Didn’t make sense at all, and it’s impossible to get it right all the time.

        • haqua

I have to agree, it is awkward, especially when you touch a building or a tree or a pedestrian in the background and they respond all embarrassed like.
…It’s even worse in TMGS2 with the walking scenes… ;; But, the reactions can be cute sometimes, so the awkwardness makes it worth it in my opinion.

Sakuya, Chiharu, and the principal are hands-down the most forgettable characters in TMGS1. …Well, the principal can be memorable is you try to date him, but I’ll pass. > n>

          • The Principal was the creepiest guy. I don’t even… And it doesn’t help that the protagonist is such a lost little bambi.

  • What a FABULOUS Credit Card.

  • TheDarkEmpress

Wow I need me one of these, got some pantsu shopping to do.

  • Apache_Chief

I could buy a car and then make it fabulous with my stickers!

I cannot lie, this sort of thing makes me jealous. I live in a small town in the American South where, outside of buying stuff online, you can pretty much only get stuff at Wal-Mart. I’m sick of the media norm here, I’d like more things like this available here and less Viacom type stuff shoved down my throat. Why can’t more cool things be available here and why can’t I avoid the stuff I hate easier?

Shortened/edit to be less embarrassing. Seriously though, I’m jealous, why can’t I take the stuff I don’t like about my media and pop culture and replace it with this?

    Some other country or at least region seems to have some cooler thing going for it that mine doesn’t. You can’t even buy alcohol on Sunday where I live. And Japan doesn’t even just get anime and manga while it just trickles down to my country, they get cool credit cards, too? Why don’t we get cool credit cards?;_;

hey man imagine life before the internet was common outside of colleges and universities… you’d have only heard rumors of these types of things and only if you ran in certain circles.

      • CirnoLakes

Ah, the days before widespread internet.

Those were truly the dark ages.

  • OH GOD, why “Girl’s side”!? The tokimeki memorial series was usually GIRLS, before it went the wrong way with this game! And that one doesn’t have a card!?
