Level-5’s Time Travelers Debuts On Three Platforms In July

By Spencer . May 8, 2012 . 12:41am

imageTime Travelers takes place on April 28, 2031 and follows an ensemble cast of characters when a crisis hits Tokyo. There are five viewpoints players switch between like a high school girl, a reporter, and a college dropout turned costume hero. The game, at least from what we played, felt like a visual novel. Perhaps, similar to director Jiro Ishii’s critically acclaimed Wii game 428.

Level-5 announced Time Travelers will be available on July 12 and on three platforms: Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation Vita, and PSP. A retail copy costs 5,980 yen ($75). PSP and Vita will also get a downloadable release which costs 4,980 yen ($62).

Siliconera tried Time Traveler’s at Level-5’s Vision conference and you can read our impressions here. A demo of Time Travelers will be distributed with Guild 01, Level-5’s collection of 3DS games made by four different creators.

If they all costs the same price, then I’ll probably choose the Vita version.

want to impress me? release the game in 2 languages in the same day (Japanese and English)

Edit: considering the difference is specs between the different platforms, did they dumb down the PS Vita version to cut down on the cost? or did they develop the game while keeping the strength of each platform in mind?

    • When the game was first announced, it was just a 3DS title, with no other mention of multi-platform

From that, it is best to assume that the Vita version won’t be that significantly stand out from other platforms release

I just thought to myself “which console should I get it on the 3DS or the Vita?”, but then I released it’s better to have a confirmed English release before even jumping to that question xD  I mean I’m still waiting for Layton and the Mask of Miracle, Level-5 :P (Though I’m sure that’s been confirmed for Europe this year so yay).
Nice to see the game finally have a release date though!

  • Don’t care which platform it comes for, I just hope it comes over.

    •  I think it will. It prolly won’t be Level-5 bringing it over, but perhaps, just perhaps we’ll get it eventually.

I’m rather curious to see whether this will actually sell in Japan. For some reason, I really don’t think this will be a huge sucess, depends mostly on Level-5’s expectations. Let’s see how it goes from here.

  • Really excited for this game and crossing my fingers for an overseas release, even if it’s download-only like Corpse Party was.

  • Hope its as mind twisting as S;G or at least as entertaining.

    As i still don’t have Vita atm…… 3DS FTW!!!^^

  • Cannot wait for this game! :D Hoping somebody decides to localise it! Level-5 now have their US office so it’s certainly more likely than it otherwise would’ve been. With the dearth of games for Vita period than I don’t see why not.

Great to have a release date after all this time, this is the L5 game that has been able to keep me interested since its announcement :) I hope they don’t need two years to localize it, though :P

  • raymk

I want it now, don’t know what system to get it for though.

  • thebanditking

Someone needs to pick this up, and for both 3DS and Vita. I really wish Level 5 would start self publishing over here.
