Text Or Die! Typing Of The Dead Gets iOS Remake

By Spencer . May 9, 2012 . 10:00am

flickofthedead1Remember that Flick of the Dead trademark we found? Sega formally announced the iOS House of the Dead spinoff and it’s a remake of The Typing of the Dead.

Instead of a keyboard, players type words as if they were texting with a regular phone. Of course, you’ll play Flick of the Dead key on a more advanced device. Sega added over 25,000 words, a boss rush, and a drill mode to Flick of the Dead. You may have to pay extra for those features, though.

The good news is Flick of Dead is available for free for the game’s opening sale. You can grab Flick of the Dead from Japan’s iOS store.

Ah! I’ve never played Typing of the Dead but Flick of the Dead looks awesome! Though, in some scenes it could probably be a bit scary and throw you off!

Typing of the Dead is 0% scary and 100% fun.

Look up Let’s Plays or get the game yourself, it’s seriously wacky fun.

You say it’s not scary, but that giant psychotic zombie with a chainsaw running after you is not very convincing! (⌒‿⌒; ✿)

Well, it’s not scary, really, but I think some moments might catch me by surprise! (*^ワ^*)

BRUSH YOUR TEETH! WASH YOUR HANDS!

Oh yeah. Scary. Makes me think the zombie with the chainsaw is some midwife or something.

Lmao the minute I read the “BRUSH YOUR TEETH~! WASH YOUR HANDS~!” I somehow knew it was the 4playerpodcast play-through XD

the things you type distract you from the gory bits

Oh my goodness, I still remember Typing of the Dead. My 19 year old cousin used to live at my grandfather’s house and he would play this game all the time. Everyone, even my dad, would be crowding around the computer watching him play this every time we went over. Good times.

And once again, mobile phone game developers have forgotten that some of us have real keyboards.

I thought that screenshot said something quite different from ‘Flick’ for a moment there…

Honestly it looks pretty insane to play, but then so did Typing of the Dead.

i’d like to see a Swyping of the Dead

Do they still wear keyboards? THIS IS IMPORTANT. IT WAS SO HILARIOUS.

I think its a genius idea to be honest. But this game REALLY shines on the keyboard. I mean… if you wanna text faster this might help you out X3 Is there an option for symbols like parentheses? Imagine if they actually gave you a smiley face :)   XD you’ll be screwed!
But its genius for people who actually want to learn how to type faster on keyboard. School would be a lot more fun if students could learn with this. At least there’s some pressure and I honestly cant see someone not amused by the horrible dialog with the undead trying to kill you. I mean its either this, Mavis beacon, or typing everything a book tells you. They should do this with the older resident evil games. But nothing seriously new- just to do it. I’m sure this game will fun to play too, though.

HM HM HM HMM! People of Siliconera…. I Am Goldman! XD

Ehh lame. It’s always possible this game could be ten times better than the original, but it was one of the few games that could enhance your resume. Plus the last thing we need is MORE people texting while they’re walking (like zombies ironically enough).

Anyways, my point is Sega really should put Typing of the Dead on Steam. It’d be great to not have to pirate the game and also own a digital version.
