Sol Trigger’s Battle System Has Characters Sacrifice Their "Sol" To Power Up An Attacks

By Spencer . May 14, 2012 . 2:30pm

imageImageepoch’s upcoming PSP role playing game, Sol Trigger, shares something in common with Soul Sacrifice. Both games have players sacrifice part of their characters to use powerful attacks. Sol Trigger won’t make you give up your spine, though.

If you want to use a skill in battle you have to give up some "Sol" and the amount of Sol you use changes the level of the attack. It’s possible to infuse so much Sol in one strike that your character is left in a near-fatal state.

Instead of using skills you can use Sol-free weapons. Sol Trigger has a weapon proficiency stat that increases when you practice with the same weapon and when this parameter increases you can learn new skills.

Sol Trigger comes out in Japan on August 30.

“Sol Trigger comes out in Japan on August 30”

Sigh, I really hope Sol Trigger gets localized because I really want to play it.

Same here. Alas, that’s not very likely.

A digital release at the most. I would love for a physical release for all you PSP users out there, and a digital for the rest.

Kind of a cool mechanic- feeding HP into an attack to make it more powerful. Now all I’M wondering is if they’ll do something interesting with it, ala the last bosss fight of Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter (yes I played and liked that game, come at me etc) or just keep it as a pure gameplay mechanic that doesn’t really play a role story-wise.

BoF:DQ is a good game dude, I’m actually proud of you.

Oh man, it is really rare to find others who dig that game. Like, I get that it was a huge departure from the series style, but I really liked the bleakness that wasn’t JUST brown and bloom and the gameplay mechanics and the D-Ratio element. Also, Ryu’s dragon form was REALLY cool-looking, even if it was a double-sided sword.

This game looks way too good. Definitely importing.

  • You must sacrifice part of the Sun with every attack?  That can’t be very efficent, we need that thing X3

    • Most likely its So(u)l lol.
But yeah, we need tht stuff (and soul) too.

  • Stranger On The Road

I don’t mind the big guys in Soul Sacrifice sacrificing themselves, but cute anime girls? no man, don’t even go ther…… ohhh, they sacrifice something else, oh that makes more sense.

although…. anime girls…. sacrificing their bodies…… that could be read in a different way!

Give up Sol?? Isn’t it something like giving up mana for using magic here?

Or like Ar-Tonelico where u give up some percentage of ur HP to dealt damage here?

    • Nathanael Chu

According to previous reports, running out of Sol kills you outright in this game. On the other hand, you can survive perfectly fine with 0 HP. When HP runs out, you take all your damage in the Sol gauge.

So SOL is like our oil or “Soul” itself. This seems to be more interesting here.^^ When it comes, i am going to buy it at once here.

  • oh, the Japanese and their puns~

    still, sounds interesting

  • oh pls localize give the ppl who have a psp a reason to live OTL

  • Hmm… this theme of using “Sol” power….Where have I heard tht be4….
Also, La Resistance=Cool and sexy clothes ^o^
