Etrian Odyssey IV’s Beastly Warrior Might Be Able To Learn Magic With A Subclass

By Spencer . May 17, 2012 . 2:01pm

daFamitsu revealed a new warrior class in Etrian Odyssey IV, which has a character designed like a Rakshasa. This class hails from a savage land and can bring fierce fighting skills to a party exploring the Yggdrasil Labyrinth. Warriors can sacrifice HP & TP to deal extra damage and get endure a fatal blow once per battle.

Etrian Odyssey IV has a subclass system, so you can give these gruff fighters a little bit of magic know how with a Rune Master subclass or more effective killers with the Night Seeker class.

Fearsome F.O.E.s patrol the labyrinth and in Etrian Odyssey IV you see models instead of a deadly glowing light. Players can lure F.O.E.s. in for a fight (or distract them) with food found in dungeons. Players can also cook ingredients into dishes that temporarily boost the party’s parameters.

  • I am greatly interested in this one. Since the first three titles came out in American, my hopes are high for the fourth.

  • Barrylocke89

This is great for customization, although I’ve heard people say that subclassing made EO3 easier than they would have liked. I never got that far in EO3 (still need to finish EO2) but hopefully things will stay balanced in this game.

    •  the Subclassing in 3 was very well done and only made easier if you know choose the best things (Hoplite/Prince Skills)

  • Göran Isacson

Huh, Lion-men… wonder if the female version will just be a regular human girl with cat-ears.

    •  Indeed, i’ve been wonder what the females look like

      • A Fox and Bunny Samurai/Warrior, from what I could tell.

    • I wish, but this isn’t 7th Dragon.

    • boundries_san

      Dog Days? Nekomimi army?

    • puchinri

They look pretty cool to me~.

      • Göran Isacson

Oooh, so they did go “full animal” on them as well! Not bad, not bad at all… though why the male and female are apparently from different animal species is another puzzling question.

        • puchinri

Yeah, they look pretty cool (and I’m so glad they went full animal). I was wondering that too and didn’t notice anything text-wise that may explain it anywhere. Maybe it’ll be discussed further elsewhere. (Or I guess it’s just their class equivalent of different hair/eye/skin color?)

Finally, a furry class in Etrian Odyssey!

More like EO3 Subclass system returns in 4 but i’m happy to see it return.  Now i wonder what the last(?) Secret Class will be, since its be said there were going be 3

  • woot

    Rune Masters sound kewl

  • Wafflenaut

Thank the Lord they still have the sub-class system. Pre-order for sure!

  • This game is going to rock socks.

  • boundries_san

So…. that dragon seems to be another F.O.E here. It seems it will be another nightmare of avoiding thm here.

  • How the other male class looks and the female versions…I like that they didn’t do the Human Girl look but with animal ears…though if they did it be pointless because of this classes look

    • Exkaiser

I dig it. I dig it.

And if anthropomorphic animals aren’t your thing, I suppose you could always subclass a Swordsman with the Mononofu.

Since Mononofu is an archaic term for samurai, I wonder if this will be the Ronin class of the game. The female ones certainly look like the Ronin/Shogun.
