It’s Close, But Not Quite A Taiko: Drum Master Fantasy RPG

By Spencer . May 21, 2012 . 12:26pm

Yes, Wada-don has a sword and a dragon, but no Namco Bandai isn’t making a Taiko: Drum Master role playing game. The video is from the upcoming 3DS game, Taiko: Drum Master The Little Dragon and the Mysterious Orb, which has an RPG-style adventure mode.

Players will have to travel to seven lands in search of seven orbs that imbue Wada-don’s dragon with elemental powers. Taiko: Drum Master The Little Dragon and the Mysterious Orb has enemy encounters and you "fight" by hitting notes on beat. The dragon joins in and hits monsters with special attacks.

Taiko: Drum Master The Little Dragon and the Mysterious Orb comes out on July 12 with music from The [email protected], Doraemon, and Monster Hunter Tri G.

The last Taiko DS game had a RPG mode as well where your outfits had different stats and you even fought random encounters with segments of the full songs.

Aside from being so adorable, this game actually looks quite enticing. Never owned a Taiko game before (just played in the arcades) but I sure as heck want to start with this one.

I hate the fact that i love these Japanese-language-only games, but don’t know how to read a single word.
Another great game added to my wish-an-US-release-list.

you could learn the basics of japanese in couple of months if you really wanted to, plus it’s not actually as hard as it seams

  • Remind me of those time when I feel the pain of beating the drumstick hard while plying it in the arcades…..

  • Heck, and I was hoping for a Vita version with trophies… Guess I will just keep hoping.

  • Pipiskin99

well previous games also had an adventure mode
