Professor Layton And The Miracle Mask Trademark Hints At North American Release

By Spencer . May 22, 2012 . 11:31am

a1While Nintendo of Europe confirmed the Professor Layton game for the 3DS, Nintendo of America hasn’t said anything about the title yet. They’re probably saving the announcement for E3 since Level-5 just filed a trademark for Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask in the U.S.

For the past two years, a Professor Layton trademark pops up like one of Layton’s top hats right before E3. Siliconera also found trademarks for Professor Layton and the Last Specter and Professor Layton and the Unwound Future – both of which were confirmed during Nintendo’s E3 press conference just a few weeks later.

Which means if we’re lucky, a release by the end of the year. That’s definitely going to be a boon for Nintendo, especially in Europe.

Me, I just want more Layton.

  • riceisnice

I thought The Miracle Mask was in 3D. That screenshot looks like 2D.

    • Vampiric

………… realize your computer screen might not be enabled for 3d viewing right?

      • riceisnice

I mean the character models were suppose to be in fully animated in 3D. Right?

    • Kefkiroth, they’re 3D models. Not sure where the screenshot came from.

  • Alexandre Poulin

Finally!  Now to wait for next year where the dear professor shows up with a lawyer.

    • AuraGuyChris

This has no direct implications about the crossover coming over.

I feel like I’ve seen you before.

  • Guest

What about the Phoenix Wright crossover?

    • Vampiric

this is why i hate people, they just cant be happy for what we have they always want more

      • Guest

But the crossover was announced before this I think. Plus hate is a strong word. I dont hate you

        • kylehyde

No, it wasn’t. Also the crossover has not been released in any place yet meanwhile this game was released more than a year ago.

          •  Yet it is ok if he wants know about that crossover. He didn’t complain about this game at all. Vampiric is acting like a buttmad guy for no reason.

    • That’s more up to Level 5, it’s not even out in Japan so be patient.

  • I can’t refrain myself from shivering at this line. o_o
“Look how busy even at night.”

    • Phlo

It’s busy at night in the city of miracle!

  • AuraGuyChris

I thought the game was called “The Mask of Miracles”?

  • neo_firenze

IIRC, Nintendo actually talked about Miracle Mask as coming to North America way back at E3 2010, then they went silent on it for a very long time.  Not really very surprising to see it finally coming though.

More Layton is always a good thing. It’s nice that I don’t have to sweat it’s eventual arrival in Europe since Level 5 is good with releasing their games worldwide, especially now that I can’t just import the game from the US. Just gotta sit back and wait patiently for more gentlemanly goodness…

  • scratchbach

Well I liked the sound of “Mask of Miracle” better than “Miracle Mask”, but they could call the game “Professor Layton and the Terrible 3DS Game” and I’d still buy it.
    Love me some Layton!

  • boundries_san

    At last.^^

Have been keep waiting here lv-5. Cant wait for more layton goodness.

  • Alexandra Cordes

Damn straight it better come to America. >:I Next up… the second Edgeworth game. In my dreams…

And quicker than Last Specter, too.

I wish they had left it “Mask of Miracles”, though. It just sounds better.

  • This is why I bought the 3ds! I only wonder why it wasn’t presented at E3.
